Haven't read this yet but seemed like something a few people might be interested in checking out A Bell Gardens-Raised Latinx Artist Creates a Comic Book to Challenge SELA’s Negative Stereotypes ~ L.A. TACO
Anybody in here read all of Death Metal including tie-ins? I'm working my way through it and there are so many characters. I'm enjoying it, it's just alot
That's the one I'm about to start! I've been going in release order cuz that seemed to be a pretty good flow but it's definitely pretty clear you almost need to read all tie-ins to know what is going on
Also what's on your monthly pull in general out of curiosity? I'm trying to figure out what titles I want to start getting going forward now that Death Metal is over
Well I'm not really sure what the state of DC is going to be after Future State, but as of now I have DC Batman Detective Comics Strange Adventures Sweettooth Returns Batman & Superman Justice League Rorschach Green Lantern Batman B&W Batman/Catwoman Other Kick Ass V Hit Girl 7 To Eternity Unearth Crossover Firepower Sleeping Beauties (Stephen King adaptation) Buffy & Angel Reboots Nailbiter Returns Monstress Babyteeth Undiscovered Country Sea of Stars Spawn Outcast Obklivion Song Ice Cream Man Department of Truth Umbrella Academy: You Look Like Death Decorum Die!Die!Die! Die Goddamned: Virgin Brides Ascender
Really that goes for everyone in here what is everyone pulling?? Going forward I think mine is going to be: Swamp Thing Man-Bat Justice League Teen Titans/Academy Non-Stop Spider-Man Nailbiter Returns Crossover Locke & Key Still debating on Detective Comics. Haven't read much DC until Death Metal

Current stuff: The Cimmerian: The Frost Giant’s Daughter (Ablaze) Crossover (Image) Eternals (Marvel) Magnificent Ms Marvel (Marvel) New Mutants (Marvel) Upcoming stuff on order: Carnage: Black, White, & Blood (Marvel) Demon Days: X-Men (Marvel) Future State: Superman: House of El (DC) Radiant Black (Image) Silk (Marvel) Frost Giant’s Daughter, Carnage, & Silk are miniseries. House of El is a one-shot. Demon Days is a one-shot that’ll have more one-shots, so it’s indirectly a miniseries. Ms Marvel only has one issue left, though if/when another Ms Marvel series is announced, I’ll obviously get that one, too.
I just went back recently and snagged the first two volumes of Silk. Just waiting on the last couple issues. I’m excited to dive in and will add that new miniseries to my pull, I didn’t know that was coming out. Also gonna add Carnage.
All the X-Men books Miles Morales: Spider-Man Captain Marvel Spider-Woman Eternals Star Wars: The High Republic King In Black Definitely need to read some DC stuff and get caught up with Buffy. Would love to read more Power Rangers too. Upcoming titles that I'll be reading: Anything with X-Men Carnage: Black, White, & Blood Silk Would be nice to get into a horror book or two again. Just way too much stuff out there to read lol
lol. It just makes me happy that Harley’s upcoming ongoing series looks genuinely good. Don’t think an ongoing Harley comic has ever really excited me, but other stuff the past couple years has made me really appreciate the character.
The Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass graphic novel by Mariko Tamaki & Steve Pugh, which reimagined Harley as a young runaway who’s taken in by a bunch of drag queens threatened by gentrification. It was very good. Also, Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn. I love that movie. Also, the animated series, which I’ve only watched one episode of plus random clips ‘cause I don’t have HBO Max & didn’t have that DC app. But, what I’ve seen is super fun; I’m excited to eventually watch more.
Wife and I are working our way through S2 of the show atm. It's so awesome! I still need to watch that movie and finish that graphic novel. Last I knew Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti were writing HQ. What happened to them?
They just reached a pretty natural end for their long time on the book, I think. They did recently make a Harley Quinn & Birds of Prey miniseries for Black Label that Conner herself actually drew, which I might get if I ever see it on sale. Never really was pulled in by their stuff with her, though, outside of a short holiday story that Darwyn Cooke drew. Couple other writers had her book afterwards. Nothing super exciting. I think Otto Schmidt drew a few issues, which is dope, but otherwise, meh. Just missing that special something for me, personally.
Posted this in the “accountability” thread; worth sharing here, too. Feel pretty comfortable at this point saying Geoff Johns is pretty bad.
I like the solo costume look. https://aiptcomics.com/2021/01/14/dc-comics-damian-wayne-series-robin-2021/
Makes alot more sense now how Eddie B had a job for so long. That's really disappointing to me cuz I am a Johns fan but definitely won't be checking out anymore of his stuff knowing all this. Side note: DC does appear to be more diverse nowadays based on their current slate right??
I am... hesitant... to give DC any real credit on the upcoming diversity of the slate. It's very easy for corporate entities to imitate the language/actions of diversity, I'll be more impressed when I see they're handling it well tbh.
That's absolutely fair and I agree. It's definitely how they act from here. My gut tells me it's not gonna be much different.
