it's getting real weird for sure. Hope they explain the mysterious leader of the cult thing soon. when you say explain themselves, you mean the hallucinatory blood rain right?

Specifically I was talking about why there's another Nailbiter along with all the other killers, and the Game

I grabbed a new Locke and Key issue and was like what the fuck this is part of the Sandman Universe now? and totally forgot about the crossover.

Ah gotcha, yeah! Do you know how long this is supposed to be and if this is definitely the end or anything?

I never have any idea when things end. Always a surprise when I see that I'm holding the last issue, lol. I find that anytime I try to look ahead and find out that information end up seeing a cover that spoils something. If I head to guess, it seems like it's coming to a close soon, right?

I just happened to see the February (?) Solicits and it mentioned something about leading to the conclusion. Haven't heard anything in regards to it ending though

Are we supposed to assume that they are just reanimated versions or what? I'm bad at understanding of things aren't spoonfed to me. I understand that it was the game they started and appears that someone else mysterious has taken it over.

It's new people people taking on the roles of the killers, no reanimation involved. So yeah presumably the mysterious person got a group of like minded psychos together to take on those roles and play the game. So I'm assuming the mysterious person has to be someone who played the original game. I'll have more thoughts next issue when it's fresh on my mind, I read a lot so stories get jumbled lol.

This makes sense! Yeah I tend to re-read an issue before the newest one if I'm not binge reading, so I can refresh and/or pick up on things I missed before. Obviously even then I miss things lol

RIP Richard Corben. An iconic comic illustrator with a long history with publications like Heavy Metal Magazine. Dunno if I own any of his work outside of his issue of DC’s Solo anthology series? Really appreciate his talent, though.

    lol...

This is mainly funny to me because of some patriotic superhero drama with Rob in the late 90s:

He was on the Heroes Reborn Captain America series (I’m sure a lot of you have seen the famous giant-chested Cap drawing from this time) but parted ways I think for largely financial reasons. He tried to get the rights to Cap creators Joe Simon & Jack Kirby’s later creation Fighting American (created out of their own frustration w/ Marvel in the 50s), so he could do his own Captain America w/out Marvel, but he didn’t like how much Kirby’s estate & Simon wanted. So, he then started developing his own patriotic character... until Simon & Kirby’s lawyers threatened to sue. Then, they settled on a new contract. But, then Marvel sued, resulting in Fighting American being banned from throwing his shield.

All of that makes this quote even funnier: “Negotiations between Liefeld and Archie took a while to hammer out, and there were moments it looked like it might not come together. But Liefeld began penciling the first issue in secret anyway, thinking if the deal fell through, he could tweak it and turn the comic into some other patriotic character.”

One more related funny detail: This Shield character actually predates Captain America, & a lawsuit in the 40s is why Cap’s shield went from the original (which was too similar to The Shield’s chest design) to the round one we know today.

I can't imagine how bad the Liefeld Archie Universe is gonna be and it stings because I have forever had a soft-spot for DC's short-lived Red Circle thing back in the 2010's lol

Between Batman: Black & White, Wolverine: Black, White, & Red, & now Superman: Red & Blue (which is the most appealing one to me, though I think Gary Frank was a poor choice for that kinda stylized graphic cover)...

When we getting a Spider-Man equivalent!?

Really, though, it’s a bummer we have so few standalone evergreen Spidey books. Outside of Spider-Man: Blue & maybe Life Story, everything else is part of ongoing continuity (like Kraven’s Last Hunt), or itself an ongoing series (like Ultimate Spider-Man), or... not great (Reign). A stylized anthology miniseries by top creators, when collected, would be so nice to hand to curious fans of the character.

On another Spider-note, long-delayed Silk book confirmed for March. Also confirmed to be a miniseries, which I don’t think was previously stated, but not surprising. Pumped to have a Cindy Moon comic back in my hands, though.
