Should keep you occupied for a while. I always go back to TWD every year or few months and just blast right through them.
Been reading some Rumiko Takahashi stuff this past week, love it so much. (As someone w/ the unpopular opinion that flipped manga is more enjoyable to read than unflipped manga, I’m glad she was popular back when they used to flip stuff, lol.) Looking forward to things opening up again so I can go hunting for more cheap old stuff of hers at my local comic shop. Especially wish I had more Ranma 1/2.
Read the first volume of Hickman's X-Men last night. REALLY dug it. This post HoX/PoX era is super dope. I also finished reading the first volume of Doctor Doom, which was super enjoyable, and I've got Batman: Last Knight on Earth to read tonight.
They pull together. I'll admit that it was a bit disarming when I first started reading it all. Also, if you're not reading the collection, IIRC, it's supposed to be HoX 1, PoX1, HoX2, PoX2, etc for reading order.
I grew up reading Mad magazine and, along with many other talented artists that appeared issue to issue, it was always a delight seeing Mort Drucker's work: Mort Drucker, Master of the Mad Caricature, Is Dead at 91
Just finished the Terrifics annual and James Asmus had a short story. A blast from the not so distant past.
Todd McFarlane has such "Gen-X-er trying to be funny like The Youths online" energy, in a way that's both not funny & unintentionally hilarious simultaneously. This guy is the President of Image Comics.
Don't believe I've read any Brian Michael Bendis stuff before so I checked out Batman Universe. Really enjoyed it and thought it was a great self contained story
that's cool about the spawn statue kickstarter but man, todd, i'm dying for some deluxe editions/omnis of the spawn series. i'll help fund that.
Loved all the cameos and everything! His artwork was definitely good, had a very old school mixed with new school vibe, that could have also been the colorist but either way I agree. This story wasn't supposed to be canonical right? Like there was definitely a few callbacks to previous events and major DC related things but it seemed very self contained
I’ve been reading the Superman Rebirth comics and have been really enjoying them. It’s fun how Action Comics is about the this new Superman dealing with his past and the differences from his time like Lex & Oz and Superman is solely about the Superman/Jon relationship. I loved the new take on the family being from a different era, so I’m not sure how it’s gonna work beyond Superman Reborn though.
It’s been on an indefinite hiatus for almost 2 years with no word on a possible return date. With the way things are going it looks like it could be another year or more
I'm so fast behind in that series. I think I read the first maybe 4 volumes. On another note I just finished Volume 14 of The Walking Dead, started Volume 1 on March 30 I believe
Continuing my DC catch-up reading. Hawkman is another book I really have enjoyed through issue 7. Also, I‘ve finished three issues of Heroes in Crisis and i don’t really know what this actually is about.
It's about heroes, who are in crisis. Duh. Love me some Tom King at his best because of how he's able to blend pure superhero nonsense w/ more personal storytelling, but what I read of Heroes in Crisis was the closest I got to agreeing w/ some of the criticisms of his work I've seen online. When he goes full on '00s "serious" mainstream comics meets prestige television, filtered through that Alan Moore, Steve Ditko 9-panel grid, it's... not my favorite. He really needs those grounded slice-of-life moments & those silly moments to keep from going full Avengers Disassembled/Civil War/Identity Crisis.
lol. On a non-comics Zorro note, the 90s Mask of Zorro film still rules, fyi. Also, related, if y'all enjoy those pick 3 things on Twitter: Anyone who doesn't pick Year One is wrong. My other two are Gotham By Gaslight & Long Halloween.
