I'm pretty okay with it because it opens up room for Kylo Ren novels. One of my favorite authors, VE Schwab, really wants to write him and I think she'd do amazing.
Really glad I went out this past weekend to get some comics, before PA went on shutdown (even though I own shelves & stacks of stuff I haven't read yet that I could be reading, lol). Hope to hear about some good comics reading over the next couple weeks!
I had a friend send me the entire Preacher run for $10. I’m sure by now everyone here knows that I’m forever behind on reading, but hoping to dive into some comics by the end of the week.
My LCS was still open so it was nice to stop by, maintain that ritual and routine of chatting with the employees and picking up my weekly stack. They're barely hanging in there as is and this pandemic will hit em hard but I'm glad to support them while I can.
An Open Letter to Comic Book Publishers from Eric Stephenson, Chief Creative Officer & Publisher at… | Image Comics
Jonathan Hickman's new series Decorum seems like it's going to be just as epic and awesome as everything else he's done. The way it uses completely different art styles to tell the action of the story is something I haven't seen done much and never this well.
If you're stuck in your house & want something comics-related to watch, here's a lengthy interview w/ Erik Larsen, on Jim Rugg & Ed Piskor's Cartoonist Kayfabe (which is something anyone who loves comics as a medium should follow if they don't already).
She was on the Word Balloon podcast recently & said she didn’t read comics until she started making them & only started making them because her partner needed an artist, & it’s both encouraging & really frustrating to me that someone like that can just stumble into being a fantastic artist, lol.
DIAMOND COMICS DISTRIBUTORS Ceases Receiving Products for Distribution Due to Coronavirus 4th post in a row, lol, but this is pretty dang significant for the comic book industry.
Definitely worried about the comic book industry right now. Not really for Marvel and DC but all of the shops, creators, and smaller publishers.
My LCS is only mailing out books for the time being, so I called them up earlier and paid over the phone for my pull list this week. They have no idea what's in store for them after this week. I'm looking forward to this shipment and I hope this isn't the last time I buy books from 'em.
Hey for anybody who read the first arc of All Star Batman, do you remember if it's there that Batman reveals himself as Bruce Wayne to Harvey Dent?". He knows in the current Det Tec series and I'm trying to remember when he would have done that and All Star makes the most sense.
Also my comic shop was completely open, I do live in Montana. I'll probably stop by on Wednesdays and pick up some trades since I want to support them and not screw up my favorite ritual of the week.
The new Punisher Max series (Soviet) was one of the best. Super glad the finale for this one got in under the wire.
Yesterday, during my day away from the internet & my phone (if you're able to do something like that, I highly recommend it, even though it's a little harder during this pandemic), I ended up rereading Death: Time of Your Life & reading part of Eternity Girl. Probably shouldn't have picked two rather existential reads, but they're both really good, so whatever, lol. Also been reading some of Mark Waid's Flash run, which is good, y'all. Not sure if I've been falling in love yet w/ Wally himself, per se, but I've very much so falling in love w/ this corner of the DC universe. Has a chance of replacing the Superman corner as my favorite corner of DC, even if I don't love any one Flash as much as Superman himself. Besides continuing Waid's Flash & hitting up some of the Spider-Man stuff on my shelves I haven't tackled yet, I'm probably gonna mostly focus on independent stuff. Finished Liz Suburbia's Sacred Heart & read some of Jim Mahfood's autobio strips in Los Angeles Ink Stains. I think David Mazzucchelli's Asterios Polyp & Hartley Lin's Young Frances are next for me. Also might finally finish all my Jaime Hernandez Love & Rockets hardcovers. Oh, & also hopefully gonna go through some of this Rumiko Takahashi manga I've been buying in recent months.
