Finally started a pull list yesterday. Love the first issue of Dr. Doom. I also picked up the TPB of Mister Miracle yesterday, so stoked for that one.
Did anyone else check out Basketful of Heads from Joe Hill? Excited to see how that one continues. I'll likely be checking out all of the Hill House titles.
Looooved it, read it a second time immediately after. The dialogue has such a perfect amount of camp. I already told my LCS to just throw all the Hill House stuff on my pull, lol. Hill's next one, I don't remember the name but it's the last release they have planned, has probably my favorite concept so I'm really looking forward to that one.
I believe that one is Plunge. Too bad we have to wait until 2020 for it! I don't think the review copy had the Sea Dogs story for some reason, so I may need to track that down eventually. The Low, Low Woods looks like it'll be a good one.
Oh damn, you'll definitely want to track Sea Dogs down, seems like it's going to be a lot of over the top bloody fun. I agree about Low Low Woods, besides Plunge that's the other one that really popped out out at me. The Dollhouse one looked pretty great in the sampler too.
For sure. I only have one more King book to read by the end of the year for the podcast so I’m hoping to have some time freed up for comics once I get back from a work trip that I have the 6-11 this month.
Nice, that's one of the better short story collections. I think it's my favorite if I'm not forgetting anything or counting the novella collections.
Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass was absolutely fantastic. Mariko Tamaki is low key one of the best writers in comics.
All caught up on the Dawn of X stuff and loving every bit of it. Really like the concept behind Marauders and could see it becoming my favorite of all the new books.
Ok, picked X-Force to be my Dawn of X subscription. Same writer as the upcoming Wolverine series & has Wolverine on the roster, so it seems like a fine corner to settle down in w/ worthy longevity. Plus, the Dean White colors make it look gorgeous. That ending was wild, though we already know death only goes so far in the age of Krakoa, so we’ll see what happens next.
Yeah in a world where they've basically "fixed" death they chose the perfect character to put that to the test. By which I mean it was his idea and his plan and now they have to implement it without him.
I liked his Tales of Suspense run. I need to read his Punisher. I also want to read his Multiple Man and his stuff he did for Archie. Man, comics are expensive. Haha
Dawn of X #1s for me: Marauders > X-Force > Excalibur > X-Men > New Mutants > Fallen Angels (not super into the art for this one) Dug them all a lot story wise though
For me it's: X-Men (I'm a Cyclops fanboy, what can I say) > Marauders > Fallen Angels > New Mutants > Excalibur > X-Force
I don't know, it just didn't grab me like the others. And I really liked the Fallen Angels art ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The Fallen Angels art reminded me of Deodato, in both good & bad ways, & also Greg Land, which can only be bad. There were parts that looked kinda cool, & other parts that looked like they would've been cooler had they been colored differently, but as a whole, it just didn't work at all for me. It's a bummer 'cause I feel like Bryan Hill's take on X-23 & Cable could be really cool. (Though, I'm not really feeling kid Cable as a long term choice, especially after seeing Hickman characterize him like an actual kid.)
