I haven't read much by Grant Morrison outside of All-Star Superman, the beginning run of New 52 Action Comics, and Supergods, but I have Wonder Woman Earth One and Joe the Barbarian on my shelf to read. Nevertheless, Batman's my favorite. Where should I start with his run and what does it go until?
Same! He's definitely a great Batman writer it's just one of those that you really have to sit down and read thoroughly in a quiet room to fully understand and even then alot of times you find yourself flipping back pages making sure you didn't miss something haha.
Theory: Frank Miller's recent work is good, but DC have no idea what to do with it Some of these images still have problems, but this link is still a perfect illustration of the power a colorist has over a work of art.
I can't really agree with the premise of that. I think that art is revolting on pretty much every level. That Catwoman image is just hilariously bad, why is he tail coming from there!!!???? But I so agree that colourists have a huge influence, I don't think any of the recolours are better than the DC ones tho.
I enjoy the DC colored ones but I do agree that Miller's style needs an older style colorist to make it work better.
Batman & Son/The Black Glove Resurrection of Ra's al Guhl Batman RIP Final Crisis Battle for the Cowl (Not Morrison but heavily referenced going forward) Batman & Robin Vol 1: Batman Reborn B&R Vol 2: Batman Vs Robin The Return of Bruce Wayne B&R Vol 3: Batman & Robin Must Die Batman Inc N52 Batman Inc Vol 1 & 2 It can be pretty confusing but don't feel like you need to understand everything right away. It all comes back and gets explained eventually. The first time through I felt like I got the overall story but missed a few things and the second time through everything makes so much more sense and you can see how much everything fits.
Just read Injustice: Gods Among Us Year Four Vol. 1, which it out this week. Is this one anyone has been keeping up with? I'll be reviewing it at some point this week.
That's how I read everything EXACTLY haha. I'd have to say B&S, The Black Glove, and B&R is my favorite Morrison stuff.
I still need to finish New X-Men (1/3 of the way through) and Multiversity (a couple issues in) before justifying chasing down more Morrison, lol.
CoIE has become my bathroom book. lol. About halfway through now. Finished up the first Cyborg book. Thought it was stronger before the Metal Men showed up. I enjoy those characters, but their humor didn't really fit the style of the book.
I'm seriously going to have a shelf dedicated to Batman books. It used to be Bat family, but it just keeps expanding. lol
I have about 12 Batman books right now I think. But I'm tempted to get that Morrison run as well haha.
I finished Detective Comics and Batman though night of owls and didn't keep reading, because I was doing single issues at the time and it was getting expensive. Should I go ahead and get the trades for the rest of Snyder's run? That's probably a stupid question, I think I'm gonna get them anyway.
