I've definitely had to use context clues and guess at if I was supposed to read across the two pages or not, and guessed wrong, more than once, lol.
As always, fuck Bill Maher Bill Maher trashes comic book culture after Stan Lee’s death, sparks outrage
That's the least that Bill "I hate religion but love reactionary, edgy whiteness" Maher has said wrong, lol. Doesn't he have some alt right creeps to platform while whining about Islam? But, yeah, complaining about comics is a fine cherry on top of the "you suck, Bill Maher" sundae.
Nova got introduced in Ultimate Spider-Man and such perfect timing. I was falling in love with him and Miles together in Champions that I even bought some Nova comics yesterday at my local shop.
I finally finished Ultimate Spider-Man along with reading Ultimate Fallout and Ultimate Avengers vs New Ultimates. It was a good send off to Peter and now I’m excited to get into the Miles stuff.
Finally got to read the last issue of Mister Miracle. Actually teared up a couple of times when I was reading. The last panel was perfect. This pretty firmly cements King as my favorite writer right now.
Imo, the Ultimate universe should mostly just be skipped outside of Spider-Man. Just a few exceptions here & there. The Hickman/Ribic run is worth reading 'cause it's Hickman & Ribic. The Maker stuff ties into Time Runs Out/Secret Wars. Though, they didn't even finish the second arc, lol.
My sister got me this for my birthday. She doesn't know much about comics, but she wrote down the name when she heard me talk about it one time. She said she asked the cashier there "what would pair nicely with this?" Lol The guy showed her a Spidey comic signed by Stan Lee, priced at $500. She was like "how about something under five bucks?" So she also got me an issue of Old Man Logan. Man, comics are great. Also, I'm a few issues into Spider-Girl and absolutely loving it. The second person narration kinda threw me off at first, but I don't mind so much anymore. I love that it's set like 15 years in the future and everyone uses 90s slang.
Loaded up on some omnibuses for Planet Hulk, Brian Vaughan's Runaways, hardback collections of Jonathan Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers and the Secret Wars hardback.
HPB rules. Got Ultimate Spider-Man vol 17 & 18, and vol 1 & 2 of the pre-death relaunch. I think I'm only 4 trades away from owning all of Ultimate Spider-Man in trades, which will be so fulfilling to look at on my shelf. Also got Batman: Bloom, so now I have both volumes of Snyder's Gordon Batman storyline in hardcover. And, finally pulled the trigger on Planetary vol 1 by Ellis & Cassaday. I think I'm primed to really enjoy it at this point in my comic book fandom. Then, got a few issues between a couple comic shops. Hawkman Found one-shot. (Hitch draws a cool Hawkman. Gotta get that ongoing series when it hits the cheap back issue section.) Some cool 90s black & white one-shot starring Archangel of the X-Men. And, an issue of Phoenix Resurrection I needed.
