Love Morrison but my favorite part of Green Lantern is the epic storylines so I'm not thrilled about a more procedural take. Still excited as long as GLs continues.
I’m the opposite lol. I’ve lamented the lack of smaller GL stories as of late. Especially featuring Hal. So this is right in my wheelhouse.
So I finally got the last two volumes of Fraction's Hawkeye. I'm excited to dive in. I believe there's two more volumes in the series with a different creative team. Are those worth reading? What about Thompson's Hawkeye? Does Clint show up in those at all?
Lemire? As much as I adore him, that run sucked. Won't speak for the most recent run, as a lot of folks love it.
I can't imagine anything Lemire touches sucking, but you're not the first person to say that. What's so bad about it? I only read the first volume of Fraction's run, but I'm sure that'll end up being tough to follow.
It has its defenders, but to me, it was too different a book from Fraction's. It jumped around in time a bunch and felt like it lacked focus. It follows a similar format to Aaron's first Thor story, where you are seeing the story from three different points in Clint's life. It just felt disjointed.
Geoff Johns: There are 3 Jokers... Me: Oh, cool idea! The Joker is more of an idea than a character. There could be even more, all fundamentally different, introduced and phased out on a whim. We'll never truly know what any Joker story is... Geoff Johns: ...and I'm explaining it in a miniseries literally called "3 Jokers." Me: ...oh. Only way I like this is if it ends with more questions than it started with.
Hooked on Lemire and going to start attempting to read all of his stuff. Read through Sweet Tooth this past week and it was phenomenal, sort of reminded me of Walking Dead at its best, all about the characters and their struggle for survival.
Spider-Gwen/Ghost Spider series announced. (Sorry for the ad blocker screen that I have no control over.) Marvel changes Spider-Gwen to Ghost Spider with new comic
I don't know either person attached to this series. Hm. Apparently the writer is a novelist, and the artist worked on Marc Bernardin's Genius comics. The artist seems like a good fit, and I'm glad it's an all woman creative team. But, I would've liked to see someone like Kelly Thompson, Mariko Tamaki, or Jody Houser get the writing job. Oh well. Novelist hires are hit or miss, but it worked amazingly for Saladin Ahmed, and I've heard that Rainbow Rowell's Runaways is good.
Yeah, the names didn't click with me either. I'll be checking it out either way. Christos Gage is on the Superior Octopus series, which they also announced. SDCC: Marvel announces The Superior Octopus series
Jody Houser is writing a Spider-Girls miniseries tie-in to Spidergeddon, which has me optimistic about her writing more Spider-stuff even if Renew Your Vows ends. Christopher Priest is writing another Spidergeddon tie-in mini called Spider-Force, featuring Kaine, Jessica Drew, and some other characters. Wanna see him on a Marvel ongoing series. And, Donny Cates is heading up a relaunch of the Marvel Knights brand. Neat.
Ugh, stop giving me more work to do, Tim. JK. But I'll probably have to get to those after the Sony panel because I want all of the Into the Spider-Verse news.
Came across this Catwoman illustration by Elsa Charretier (Unstoppable Wasp, IDW's Star Wars). I've said it before, but seeing her draw this costume solidifies it: She has some Darwyn Cooke cartooning chops in her that could produce something like New Frontier someday. Her monthly interior work seems to be looser, but her best illustrations are fantastic.
No, but I also haven't gotten any emails, so I think she might just be behind. She's still posting about commission work here and there. I'm gonna give her a little more time before pestering her, lol.
