Yeah, was one of my favorite Marvel titles during its run. I remember having a small complaint about the final arc, though I forget what that complaint was. But, yeah, the rotating artist approach worked great for that book.
AT THE TIME!! I hated VDR's art. Loathed it. Took me out of that book issue one. I've since come to adore her work. I think I need to pick up those trades and give it a fair run. I want a VDR commission soooo bad. Gonna message her before NYCC and figure out what her rates are. Seems like shes been super reasonable lately. Though Anne seems to say she was super expensive when she asked.
Just read through all of Royal City to date. Pretty damn powerful stuff. I should probably get around to Essex County too.
Steve Ditko 1927-2018 Some cool stuff I didn't know here. Iron Man's red and gold armor was Ditko's idea. Hulk's transformation stemming from his anger also came from Ditko.
Double post! I spent the last few days getting caught up on King’s Batman. Wow. That was awesome! Gonna catch up on Mister Miracle next. DC needs to lock King up and never let him leave.
I'm with you until the last sentence. Some time after King finishes his Batman run, I'd love to see him make his way back to Marvel. So many properties there he'd kill on.
Speaking of Marvel, anyone here reading Immortal Hulk? I’ve heard good things. And Hulk is a marvel character i have a soft spot for.
I was reading all about de Liz a few weeks ago. She and her husband have a terrible track record. That book getting cancelled makes a lot more sense. Between kick starter and commissions, they seem pretty shitty.
I read I Kill Giants and watched the adaptation for it yesterday. I more or less cried all day and my eyes are sore as hell today.
Besides one change that bugged me The bully didn't see the Titan, they sort of left the bully storyline dangling I thought it was pretty much a perfect adaptation and Madison Wolfe could not have been better, she was tremendous. It brings the feels while keeping you at a slight arms length from the tragedy in the same way the comic did, which makes it even more damn emotional.
Gonna throw something out there for the folks buying original art. DON'T USE FRIENDS AND FAMILY ON PAYPAL FOR COMMISSION. I've been part of a commission group on Facebook and there are WAYYYYY too many horror stories about paying for art and not seeing anything for months, years, or even at all. Make sure you are protecting your investment. Friends and family cannot dispute charges or services. Also, if you guys are interested in joining the group, its an awesome community that shares all of their original art, along with prices. They have raffles once a year that included this awesome piece from Jae Lee:
I really hope she's writing the Ghost Spider (Spider-Gwen) series. But, whatever it is, I'm excited to hear it. Love her.
A new X-Men title should be getting announced soon right? Blue and Gold only have a couple issues left. Don't know if they're ending Red too though Edit: or maybe they'll wait after Extermination
I think Red was pitched with an initial 12-issue story, don't know if the annual they released fairly quickly into the run counts in that. So, that series is safe until at least issue 11 or 12. But, yeah, an "Uncanny X-Men #1" as part of this "fresh start" wave this year does feel pretty inevitable (in a good way). Kelly Thompson on that series would rule so hard, though she's writing that Rogue/Gambit series w/ the unfortunate title "Mr & Mrs X," lol.
Ah cool. Really liking the team in Red so hopefully that story wraps up nicely when it ends. Yeah that's a terrible title haha
