Finally got my Babs sketch. Thankfully it wasn't crushed. She responded so fast when I posted the picture on instagram. Haha. Really hope yours turns out awesome @Tim
Early 30's I think, the next issue is the final issue. It only gets better with each arc, he's great at world building and needs the time to do that. Regression has also been getting exponentially better. And he had a great little creepy as fuck story called The Unsound that it looks like just got collected in trade so I'd rec that.
Started rereading Hush again and man it's incredible. It's even better than I remember especially now that I know alot more about the DCU and some of the minor characters mentioned
Those two series are great. Try reading Harrow County you haven’t. It’s almost done, but it’s excellebt horror.
How nice of him to bring it up in order to... vaguely reference some sort of amends he's made (w/ who, & how?), and say he wants to put it behind him, while overstating Marvel's history of representation. At least Saladin Ahmed keeps getting work, and Ta-Nehisi Coates is taking over Captain America, and Sana Amanat is still a major force in Marvel editorial, and Bryan Hill's Spider-Man Annual will be the first Miles Morales comic written by a black man. Small victories here and there. But, man... The industry at large is still mostly poo at this stuff.
I've seen this quote before, but it still rules. I gotta get the García-López Superman hardcover collection one of these days.
Read through Spider-Island: Cloak and Dagger and enjoyed it. The art by Emma Ríos was wonderful. I’ll definitely read the ASM: Worldwide story sometime this week.
If you want another good story tangential to Spider-Man with Emma Rios art, check out Osborn: Evil Incarcerated. And if you want the best Emma Rios art, check out the Image series Pretty Deadly. Both comics are written by Kelly Sue DeConnick (Captain Marvel).
He's Back, Bub They're really milking this return of Wolverine. Though, I don't really mind, since the Hunt for Wolverine: Claws of a Killer miniseries by Mariko Tamaki and Butch Guice is pretty sweet. And, Hunt leading into another miniseries instead of right into a new Wolverine ongoing at least means, when we inevitably get a proper Wolverine #1, it can launch without any baggage from his death and return.
“Following his death in 2014, the signature sound of popping claws went silent“ Lol it most certainly did not, between Laura, Gabby and the other two clones, Jimmy Hudson, Old Man Logan, Daken, Venomized OML, etc. There’s literally never been more “snikt” than now.
I wanna see Jason Latour do a Marvel maxiseries someday as sole writer and artist. Just let him go wild. Vanesa Del Rey would be cool for Cloak & Dagger. Really, anyone who can do grounded, crime stuff and/or horror could be a strong fit. Someone like Mike Perkins (who I think is doing DC stuff now?), Butch Guice, or Niko Henrichon. I don't think they could get her for a run, but Tula Lotay would be sweet. My first pick for writer would be Mariko Tamaki, but Kelly Thompson would be cool, too. Dennis Hopeless is overdue for his next Marvel project and could also do a good job.
Um. I just saw a new Cloak & Dagger #1 cover. Tried to find info on it, and this is all I found: How the heck do you secretly release a brand new, unannounced series with how the comics direct market works? Is it initially digital exclusive? Is it ongoing? What's going on!? Regardless, looks like I was right about Dennis Hopeless. Really wanna read this.
Wonder if surprise digital-exclusive miniseries are gonna become a thing. Could be a cool model, especially if the inevitable trade paperbacks have a fair price point and are immediately accessible. Just throw in some Marvel Unlimited synergy.
