Nick Spencer and Ryan Ottley are relaunching Amazing Spider-Man this summer... I was really hoping the Spencer rumor from last year wouldn't happen after that whole Secret Empire debacle. *sigh* Based on his work on Superior Foes of Spider-Man and the Spider-Island: Cloak & Dagger mini, this could honestly be really good, but I'm so apprehensive for reasons that I'll hopefully get to flesh out for @Deanna/Whatever A Spider Can.
Spencer is better at humor and personality than Slott (at least in Spider-Man; Slott's Silver Surfer would've been great even without Allred's immaculate artistry), but I like Slott's execution of weird premises like Superior Spider-Man and Parker Industries WAY more than Spencer's execution of Hydra Cap. And, I don't think Spencer is going to resist taking some sort of big swings on Spider-Man, which also seem likely to miss. At least I still have Zdarksy's Spectacular Spider-Man, which I think Chip said is continuing through this wave of "fresh starts." And, I can still hope Bendis' replacement on Miles is more exciting.
Gideon Falls looks awesome, and the covers are sick. I kinda wanna pick up issue 1 even though I pretty much only buy trades now.
Just read the first issue of Gideon Falls and looved it. The art is so good. Kirkman's new series, Oblivion Song, is also off to a solid start. At least with Kirkman you don't have to worry about a series getting cancelled and ending too soon.
I ordered the first Sandman omnibus because I had a ton of amazon points. Cost a pretty penny, but worth it.
That Kelly Sue story is the first Wonder Woman comic to interest me since Legend of Wonder Woman ended. I almost fell asleep reading those two Batman project descriptions back to back. We get it, Batman is dark and cool and whatever. *sigh* Would love to see a new Batman project that lets the character have some Silver Age fun. At least Tom King incorporates that into his work on the main series. And, I'm still eager to see what Miller & JRJR's Superman project looks like, against my best interests, lol. Frank is a xenophobic old man now, and his Superman in his Dark Knight projects sucks, and yet I can't help but wonder what his Superman: Year One would look like.
The wife is out of town this weekend. So I plan on cramming in as much nerdy stuff as I can: Reading comics, binging JLU and some of the CW shows...I can’t wait.
I do the same thing. Anytime I’m without the wife and kids for a day, it’s all day comics, movies, tv, etc.
Started Batman Inc. last night and got 4 issues into the first trade (pre-New 52 one). Still largely enjoying Morrison's run. I've been attempting to catch up on a bunch of Spider-Man comics for the site (and kind of failing at that), but I'm hoping to finish up these last few Morrison trades soon.
Finishing up X-Men: The Fall of the Mutants. Honestly not my favorite, but the art is cool and I like the New Mutants more than I thought I would.
