Cool, grabbed Mad Love, I think I heard something about that one awhile ago. I don't necessarily need origin stories, I'm down for first appearances too, it's the one thing that bugs me about all the comic book reading I'm doing is I'm just thrown into these worlds and I'd like to see where some of it started. For example, I was very happy to have read Death in the Family and The Killing Joke before Hush, gave me a lot of context, but characters like The Huntress I had absolutely no idea who they were and what they were arguing with Bats about and I'm crazy interested. Yeah, I thought about starting the new 52 Suicide Squad. Probably grab a bunch when they have sales closer to the movies release.
That's what put me off to comics for the longest time, it just seemed overwhelming like I need to read ALL these issues to know what's going on?! That's why for me The New-52 was a great jumping on point. Batman: The Animated Series
Yeah, the worst thing is I WANT to read all these issues, at least when it comes to Batman, I'm just obsessed, haha. There are no other mediums where I would just jump into something without having seen or read everything from the beginning. Definitely loving what I've read of the New 52 the problem is at this moment I'm most interested in the classics I've missed. Excited to jump back into Snyder's eventually, last read Death Of the Family which was excellent. And duh, I should have known.
That's Court and City of Owls right? Yes, I think Court of Owls was my favorite Bats story before I read Hush.
Yep that's the ones! Endgame is a sequel to Death Of The Family, so look forward to that! Not sure if you have already been spoiled to what happens or not. Nice! I've been to that location a few times, parking is terrible! When i had pulls I started at the Westheimer location and then we moved so I used 1960 since it was closer. Was just curious if maybe we knew some of the same employees.
Yeah parking isn't great, especially since it's sharing the space with two other businesses. We might actually know some of the same people. I know Laura, Derrick, and David who used to work at the Washington location for a while. I know Laura ended moving the Westheimer one.
Forgot I had a kindle version of volume one of the New 52 Suicide Squad so I read that today. Seemed like a decent jumping on point especially before the movie comes out.
Picked up the C-3PO and Poe #1's yesterday and man that 3PO backstory is heartbreaking. I'm assuming it's just a one off where the Poe seems to be a new run, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyone know? Edit: never mind, just peeked the last page of Poe, looks like it's a series.
I think Poe is a five issue. Started reading Phonogram 2 but couldn't get into it. They mention a lot of really great artists that I miss though. The Pipettes!
Speaking of Marvel Unlimited, are there any kid friendly issues/series out there? I read the first two issues of Little AvX to my 4 year-old before bed and loved it.
I just grabbed the two most recent issues of Batman / TMNT. This miniseries is so much fun. I tell everyone about it.
I've had Marvel Unlimited for a few years now and I've probably used it less than 5 times. It's time to change that
Just finished reading Brian K. Vaughan and Marco Martin's The Private Eye, and it was excellent. Great social commentary and a truly different story than other things on the shelves. Plus, it's pay-what-you-want at their Web site, PanelSyndicate.
Picked these up today for $1 total at a liquidation sale. Anyone read these? May go the trade route for whatever ones I enjoy.
Looking at DC solicits, I'm not excited about any of these books. Wonder Woman is going to be a YEAR ONE book. Hello retcon.
