I'm not sure about the technical stuff like if stuff is creator owned and what have you, but it's like a smaller Image, lots of great original stories. Animosity, InSEXts (also Bennet), Alters, American Monster, Baby Teeth, Dark Ark (Cullen Bunn), Jimmys Bastards (Garth Ennis), Rough Riders, Shipwreck (Warren Ellis), and World Reader are all excellent. Backways and Monstro Mechanica are off to great starts. Pestilence and Unholy Grail were ok. I'm basically adding anything new they've got to my pull because they've been consistently awesome. I can't stress enough how good Animosity is. It's probably my favorite comic right now. AfterShock Comics
I’m thinking of subscribing to marvel unlimited but on the uk App Store the app has had 2 star reviews. I don’t know if it’s been updated since then but has anyone on here from the UK used the app? If so, is it worth it. Also, is the marvel unlimited website decent for reading the comics from or not? I’m just wanting to find out before I commit to a subscription. Thank you in advance.
Hey everyone, we're coming up on our first "Further Reading" post of 2018: Black Panther! As usual, we'll be writing short blurbs (can be very brief, or if you like being way too wordy, you can do that, too!) on at least 5 accessible comic book recommendations centered on the Black Panther. I will need these blurbs by Monday, February 12, which is just over a month away, so if you're interested, hopefully time won't be an issue! As usual, I have some suggestions for what to include, but I'm always open to new suggestions! Black Panther by Priest Complete Collection vol 1: For Marvel Unlimited readers, this contains Black Panther (1998) #1-17. Though, if you wanna talk about the Christopher Priest run and don't wanna cover that much material, you can just read the first arc. Black Panther: Who Is The Black Panther: Black Panther (2005) #1-6). Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet: For this, I'd like to do the hardcover with (2016) #1-12 instead of the trade with only #1-4. I don't think it'll read well unless that whole first year of Coates' run is read together. Black Panther: Man Without Fear: Contains Black Panther: The Man Without Fear #513-523 and Black Panther: The Most Dangerous Man Alive #523.1 and 524-529. (This was when Black Panther briefly replaced Daredevil. Francavilla art!) Like with the Priest run, if you pick this, your actual reading and blurb can be just the first arc. Black Panther and the Crew: Black Panther and the Crew #1-6, which was the whole series. New Avengers vol 1: Everything Dies: New Avengers (2013) #1-6. Ultimates: Omniversal vol 1: Start With Impossible: Ultimates (2015) #1-6. As you can see, I have 7 options up there, and we only need at least 5. And, again, if you want to suggest something else, you can. I figure we have a pretty decent mix here, spanning Wakanda, New York, and beyond. Reply with the option(s) you're interested in! If multiple, rank 'em so I can make everyone as happy as possible!
I've been planning on reading Priests for awhile, though I'll do whatever you want since I haven't read any BP and don't have really know what's good. I'd be fine doing the whole collection too.
Read Manhattan Projects Vol. 1 today. I thought it was fine. Didn't pull me in too much, but I'm sure I'll get around to the other trades at some point to see how it all plays out. That was the end of what I planned out in my reading list so I'm thinking I'll get started on Morrison's Batman run after I read a little bit of Iron Man for an upcoming podcast.
Ugh, more Tom King gushing "You sound like a villain" "I needed to save the world. What kind of villain saves the world?"
Sitting here wondering if the nostalgia is strong enough to buy the G.I. Joe omnibus volume 1 for 20 bucks haha. Loved those as a kid, not sure they’ll hold up.
I've never read a single Black Panther book and couldn't get into Ultimates. I guess I read most of the first arc of the Cotes book, but it just didn't click with me. It felt like something I needed to have some prior knowledge that I was lacking.
I'm not necessarily saying this for the Further Reading, but just in general, you should give Black Panther: The Man Without Fear a shot some time. It's a different sort of Black Panther story. Basically, around the same time that T'Challa was replaced by Shuri during a Black Panther event (Doomwar, maybe?), Daredevil decided to get away for a while due to his own baggage (Shadowland?), so T'Challa decided to run around Hell's Kitchen as Black Panther to fill in for Matt. So, it's a more crime/noir take on the character, with beautiful art by Francesca Francavilla. (Oops, did I just write a blurb?) We'll see who else volunteers, but I'd be cool with you covering the one you've already read!
omg these Young Animal/DCU crossovers sound awesome. Looking forward to Mother Panic/Batman for sure.
Best Mister Miracle yet. Reminded me of the dinner issue from the War of Jokes and Riddles (only in dialogue).
Mitch's art was fucking incredible in this one. I loved the lay out and panel transitions so much. Yeah, it's def the best issue yet. We don't deserve this creative team.
I gave up on Saga, but Paper Girls is fantastic. I don't pull much Image 'cause I prefer getting the trades, but that's one of two series that I have to keep up with as it comes out (the other being Kill or Be Killed).
Hey everyone! Just want to let you all know that I'm going to be running a Spider-Man centric website for Fansided. They pay isn't anything superb, but it's all dependent on page views. I'll be relaunching it on Monday since I won't have access to the social media accounts until then. Whatever A Spider Can - Spiderman news and rumors If everything goes as planned, I'll have a ton of content coming for it. And @Tim will probably be doing some writing there, too!
Conan's rights are now with Marvel which feels like an odd fit right now. Would have been something cool to see during Secret Wars.
