Good to see he's recovered from the MRSA infection. Still hoping he's on something like Green Arrow, Blue Beetle, or Static Shock (sadly not happening).
Bendis on Static Shock would honestly be just the worst. I don't want an old white dude like him tackling an established young black kid, especially one created under Milestone. The only silver lining to Bendis leaving Spider-Man is that a better suited writer could handle Miles now. (I do at least like Bendis' current writing of kids better than Waid's. Man, Champions is so rough, even without the comparison to Waid's otherwise flawless modern Marvel work.) I'd personally much prefer Bendis on Superman or Action (or Trinity) than an obvious street level choice like Green Arrow or Detective. Superman could really use someone with Bendis' crime and social justice sensibilities, especially since he'd also bring his Jewish identity to the character. Though, I do also hope for a new mature crime/noir book from him under the Vertigo imprint. And, a new version of Gotham Central from him could be cool, too.
Coming to Marvel Unlimited in January 2018 For those of you who have been keeping up with Marvel titles, any suggestions on what to add to my to read list from this month's Unlimited additions?
The new Exiles series that was announced yesterday looks both really weird and really cool. Nice to see Blink back in action, especially with a creative team as fantastic as Saladin Ahmed, Javier Rodriguez, and Jordie Bellaire. But, most of all, I'm really into this decision to include a grizzled old alternate reality Kamala Khan, who looks super cool.
Read Superman: Last Son of Krypton. I didn't realize the Braniac story was included in the newer edition so I had actually already read that and just skimmed through. I enjoyed the story. Since I haven't read a ton of Superman stuff in comparison to other characters (mainly Batman), I didn't know much about the Phantom Zone. So this gave me some more on that and it was an interesting way to see Mon-El in comparison to his character in Supergirl since he was added last season.
So I'm reading a novel from Tom King called A Once Crowded Sky (best name ever) and it's great so far. Has sort of a Watchmen/ Kingdom Come vibe. Not sure if it still is on sale but I got it on kindle for 99 cents.
Such a great book! After reading that and seeing what he’s done with Vision, Batman, and Mister Miracle, and in the first volume of Sheriff of Babylon, I’d love to see what he would do in a long ongoing, creator-owned series.
I flipped out when I noticed he'd written a novel. I still haven't read Vision but there's a hardcover coming out soon with the complete collection and I've got that pre ordered.
Finished Catwoman: Trail if the Catwoman today. Absolutely love Darwyn Cooke’s take on the character. I had already read Selina’s Big Score in Batman: Ego and Other Tales, but it was still a great read either everything else in the trade.
I need to stop loaning out my Saga trades. I either stop talking to the person or just never get them back. Think I'm gonna get the hardcovers and lock them up.
Commissioned the guy who did these pieces for a Persephone piece. So excited to see what he comes up with. Only $60.
He's he in Pillar or Skillet??? Is that movie based on Moore's writing/books? I enjoyed the first issue. Granted I don't know much about Archie universe outside the reboot and Riverdale.
Last year I got way behind on comics as I was reading more books but I hope to try and catch up or at least read more comics this year
Dude, I can totally still rock out to the song "Fireproof." Such a jam. No, but it's a love story between a human and a creature, and that reminded me of something I'd heard about Moore's Swamp Thing.
I have a ton of nostalgia for a bunch of stuff off of Set It Off and Phenomenon, especially "Rawkfist." I never got into any of their other albums except The Flame In All Of Us, which I weirdly like a whole lot. One of my favorite albums from that Christian rock scene. Also worth noting that my all time favorite album is still dc Talk's Jesus Freak, hence my old AbsolutePunk username, lol. (My second favorite is The National's Boxer! I have good taste, I swear!)
I've come to realize that Aftershock comics has so really great books. Reading Animosity now, and I lovvvvveeeee it. Bennett is just wonderful.
Yess, Animosity is my favorite, my heart breaks every issue. I enjoy pretty much all of Aftershock's comics
