Probably has my favorite art of anything I've read. It's a 10/10 in my book. Let us know what you think.

Got the 7 issues of Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr's Superman run today, on sale for about $6 total. Haven't wasted any time with New 52 Superman, but I love what I've read of Johns' other Superman work, so hey, might as well see if the Johns magic briefly outweighed the New 52 "update" mess.

yessss, Wytches. I love Snyder's Batman but his horror stuff is my favorite. I kind of fell off The Second Cycle of American Vampire, but the first bunch of volumes are gold. Also recommend his Swamp Thing run.

if it's the run I'm thinking of I enjoyed it story-wise, but I might be in the minority here, not a JRJ fan. I don't know what it is.

Yeah I’ve only read the first volume of American Vampire. I had borrowed it from a friend and that was the only one she had hah. Might have to check the libraries for the others. I’ll look for his swamp thing run, too!

Superwoman started off Ok but got really damn good and became one of my favorites from Rebirth. Miles ahead of Supergirl, at times better than Superman and AC...I'm going to miss it. I hope Lana and Steel get folded into something else. One less red-haired superhero in the world, sad day.

Glad I picked up the second trade. I thought the first one was a bit of a slog.

Yeah I wasn't super impressed with the first arc, but stuck with it because I liked the idea of Lana as a hero and it definitely gets better with every arc. There was an arc with a villain I hadn't heard of before named Skyhook that was really good. The best part about it is they are constantly moving the main narrative forward surrounding the mystery about Lana's powers, she goes through a lot of different stages.

He's very love-him-or-hate-him. His output has been inconsistent in recent years, but he still can put out great work if paired with the right inker/colorist. I thought his Dark Knight Returns: The Last Crusade one-shot a couple years ago was pretty great. What I've seen of his Superman is messy (that awful New 52 costume doesn't help) but, in my opinion, still decent.

I haven't read any of it, but in spite of seeing some mixed responses, I kinda want to. It seems like a neat take on the world of Superman.

Thought Arkham Manor was an interesting idea. I wouldn't mind more Batman stuff similar to that if they get a good team on it.

Also read Black Panther: Who Is The Black Panther, which is just the first volume of the 2005 run I believe. I plan to make my way through all of the issues at some point. Enjoyed the insight into Wakanda in those issues and I think it'll be a good run to continue reading before the movie is out.

Read The Death of Superman, which @Tim and I will podcast on next week. Won't say too much about that so you all have a reason to check out the podcast haha. But I did like it.

Next up: Southern Bastards Vol. 1 and 2. I still feel like I've hardly put a dent in my unread books. But I feel like I've read a good mix of stuff lately.

I think you'd like it, certainly worth giving a shot, it definitely explores A LOT of Superman's world while doing a good job of carving out its own identity eventually, maybe not as much as it should have/could have given time. It's definitely a Super- store that focuses on Hope.

They were definitely a highlight. It's crazy how batshit crazy everything got after the souls were released. Went from 1 to 10 real fast.

I have been really behind on comics the past month. I read All Star Superman in one sitting at work today and I absolutely loved it. Also got caught up on Mister Miracle and that book continues to move me. I am 100% here for what they're doing with that character.

Random question about DC Rebirth deluxe hardcovers:

What have they been doing with crossovers?

I have the first Action Comics oversized hardcover collection and eventually want to continue that, and I also want to eventually get Tom King's Batman in that format. But, when I look at the supposed collected issues, it always includes that series' issues of crossovers and not the rest. So, Batman vol. 1 (currently available) seems to include its part of that Batman monster crossover, vol. 2 (out next year) seems to include part of The Button, and Action Comics vol. 2 (also out next year) would include part of Superman Reborn. Not all, not none, just some.

I have Superman Reborn and The Button in single issues and don't care about that Batman monster crossover, so those issues being collected isn't the end of the world. But, it'd be a bit of a bummer in the same way that the weird collecting of Bendis' All-New X-Men was during Black Vortex. It'd honestly make me consider going the trade approach with Batman instead of hardcover.

Absolutely loved Southern Bastards. Thought Vol. 1 was slightly better than Vol. 2, but still brutal and entertaining. I also read Thanos Rising and it was a quick read on his origin basically. Mostly just wanted to check that out before Infinity War and thought it was fine. Today I finished up Batgirl/Robin Year One, which was a fun read. Enjoyed how both characters were written. Then I read Through the Woods by Emily Carroll and I liked those stories. Not a typical comic by any means, but I'd recommend it for horror fans.

Last two on the list: JLA: Ultramarine Corps and Batman: Dark Victory. I still have ~30 trades to read on my shelf, though, so I'll be making another list of what to read this week.

Bummer. Hawkeye will have a decent chance of taking the #1 spot for 2017. Curious what's coming next.

Certainly enjoyed what I read of this on Marvel Unlimited. I'll have to catch up soon, but definitely bummed it's over.
