Reading my Spider-Man by Todd McFarlane omnibus, and man, I forgot how good "Torment" is.

The ambiguously ethnic tribal villain is, um, let's say racially problematic, but besides that noteworthy problem, Todd's work here is wonderful. Love the layouts, repetition, and general pacing. For all his similarities to peers like Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld, especially with all the messy details, Todd has a Kirby-esque larger-than-life energy that, in my opinion, sets his art apart. I think this is most apparent when you compare his work to his Spidey successor, Erik Larsen, who feels like such a pale imitation.

Also, Spider-Man #3 has a recap of his origin, mentioning Uncle Ben by name. Just a friendly reminder that Spider-Man: Homecoming not referencing Uncle Ben even once was a stupid overreaction to Spidey origin fatigue, lol.

My Thanksgiving day read was The Omega Men: The End Is Here. I enjoyed it. I've like some of Tom King's other titles more, but I also just haven't read a ton of Lanterns stuff in general so far. Gave it a 3.5 on Goodreads (kind of since you still can't add half stars to ratings anyway).

So in my attempt to get through more of the comics I have plus Marvel Unlimited stuff, I've read that, Arkham Asylum, and Thor (2014) #1-8 and the annual so far. Not a bad start. Next up is Punisher War Journal #1-26.

Visiting my wife’s family in TX for thanksgiving. I had to go to 3 different shops in Burleson, TX to grab a copy of the Doomsday Clock.

Comic book Black Friday haul from HPB and a comic shop.

Also bought Man of Steel and the third season of Lois and Clark, lol. It's gonna be fun watching both and seeing which gets closer to the Superman I love.

I should have read a summary of Morrison's Batman while shopping yesterday, lol.

I got Batman & Robin vol 3 at HPB, so now I have all 3 volumes of that series in hardcover. Which, if you haven't heard me say this before, I don't care that much about the whole Morrison Batman saga (or Batman in general) and am only into this series because Dick as Batman and Damien as Robin sounds super fun to me. I'm happy to have all of Morrison's time on that series so that I can finally read it all.

Well, I've also been back and forth on getting Batman Incorporated because a global network of Batmen sounds fun. But, every time I hold the hardcover in my hands at HPB (I see it there a lot, lol), I decide to put it back and buy other stuff instead. Yesterday, during their 20% off sale, I saw it again but put it back again.

Anyways, I decided on a whim to look up the Morrison Batman reading order and do some reading on Wikipedia. And, apparently, Dick was still Batman alongside Bruce until New 52 made him Nightwing again. Dang it. How did I not know that?

Thankfully, I saw a good copy of the Incorporated vol 1 hardcover on eBay that looks like as good a copy as the one I saw yesterday, at the same price as the HPB one would've been after the Black Friday deal, with free shipping. Thanks for the assist, God! lol. I feel comfortable not reading any of Morrison's other Batman stuff right now, though if I like Incorporated vol 1 enough, maybe I'll check out the New 52 stuff. Also might give the rest of Batman and Robin after Morrison handed it off, while Dick was still Batman, a shot eventually.

Not yet. Plan on getting the Noir edition eventually because bold, high quality black and white Francavilla and Jock art is super sexy. Is the Batman in that Dick?

Yeah. And I'm pretty sure it was one of the last stories before the reboot. Really great stuff. Easy to see why Snyder got the job for New 52.

Morrison's Batman stuff I like except for Batman RIP. Haven't read Final Crisis but Inc was good about 1/2 the time, think I liked N52 Inc more than pre-N52

I enjoyed Doomsday Clock. I still have reservations about DC using Moore’s work. But I’ll be damned if I didn’t get a genuine kick about revisiting that world.

lulz. There's probably a good "Dick butt" joke to be had there, too.

At this point, if you can enjoy Superman without thinking about his creators, and likewise with Batman and Bill Finger, and Kirby and everything, I think you can do the same with Watchmen. *shrug*

I guess everyone's line is different, but I'm not sure that I'd treat that much differently from literally every Superman comic and film in our lifetimes; if anything, Moore's attitude towards superheroes makes it easier. I also just don't like capitalism in general but do like creativity, lol.

DC has been forced, via litigation, to account for some of those mistakes from the past.

But integrating WATCHMEN into the DC is a pretty startling anti-creator act made by the current DC administration. It is sad to see that the industry never seems to learn.

    We need that union, now.

As much as I'm pro Doomsday Clock on a creative level, I'm obviously all in on this and anything else that supports workers' rights.

Just filled my cart on IST with $50+ worth of stuff and now I'm staring at it knowing I shouldn't spend the money. Plus, I'm literally all out of shelf space in my room. I already put a third bookshelf in front of half of my closet and filled that up. Now I just have stacks of books on my dresser and 0 room for more stacks haha. #bookproblems

I need to find a new bookshelf or two. I need something that isn't going to bow, but those are pretty expensive.

Yeah I just have some cheaper bookshelves. One is newer though and one is too narrow to bow. So that’s a plus for now at least.
