I actually don't love how Marvel's lenticular covers turned out in person. I love the concept of those homage covers, but it's near impossible to clearly see just one of the two images. DC's most recent lenticular covers have been crisper. Marvel's back cover to these has been awesome, though. It's an add for the upcoming weekly Avengers: No Surrender story with an Alex Ross cover that looks 3d. Their technique does a wonderful job of nailing depth. I'd love to see it on more Ross covers, and maybe also Mike Del Mundo ones.
Ugh, I'm like two weeks and in some cases three weeks behind on my comics. Really been enjoying the Afterlife With Archie trade. also super stoked about this Len Wein’s Final SWAMP THING Story Coming From DC Comics In January | Nerdist . I skimmed back some pages and didn't see a post about it.
Hey @dadbolt, were you the one who still needed a Thor "Further Reading" assignment? I think I want the 5th rec to be Angela: Asgard's Assassin. Do you wanna do that one? If not, would you wanna sit this one out, and I'll do it? Up to you.
@Tim So I apparently already booked out the next 5 weeks of WTG episodes, which means I likely won't get a JL comic one in before the movie is out. I'm happy to do a write up still if need be and I can have the Planet Hulk one to you this weekend for Thor if that works.
Oh shit, Angela: Asgard's Assassin is written by Marguerite Bennett, she's the best. I'm going to read the hell out of that. EDIT: Oh she's the illustrator...hmmm
That's fine. Yeah, if you want to work something out for Black Panther and any other future films beyond Justice League, I can work with you to get a suggestion lined up far enough in advance to work for your schedule. Don't feel like you have to commit to every comic book film, especially with how many are coming out next year, lol. But, if you like the idea, I'm happy to help you take advantage of the opportunity. Not that I really imagine it getting you much of a bump, lol, but hey, maybe it'll help some! Nah, she's the writer. I think for Asgard's Assassin, Kieron Gillen was the main writer, and Marguerite Bennett mostly worked on the flashbacks, though Bennett eventually took over as sole writer on the next Angela series. Anyways, the flashbacks had gorgeous Stephanie Hans art, and the main story was by Phil Jimenez with some nice Romulo Fajardo Jr colors. Fun blend of Asgardian and cosmic adventure, which is part of why I decided it'd be a nice 5th Thor: Ragnarok rec.
Definitely want to do something for Black Panther! I went a little crazy with scheduling this week. I just recorded three days in a row haha.
Ah, Amazon has it wrong and it was really confusing me. I noticed Asgard’s Assassin on Marguetites bio after reading Animosity and remembered it from your post earlier and got super excited. Then when I started looking it up I got confused, ha.
The League of Shadows arc of Detective Comics is kind of a letdown. They already did this story in Batgirl like ten years ago.
Probably the weakest of what's been an incredible Detective Comics run. Although there's some super great Cassie stuff in there. The next arc is my favorite.
I'm right on the edge of Secret Wars for my Hickman reading. The order I'm following wanted me to read a few Captain America's and I noticed that Rick Remender is the writer so I'm taking a small detour reading that run.
@Tim so when I said I'd have the Planet Hulk write up to you over the weekend, clearly I totally meant to say Tuesday. Because I will in fact have that done tomorrow.
@SpyKi, @Vivatoto, @Deanna, @Henry, if at all possible, I'd like to get the Thor: Ragnarok blurbs by next Monday. After all, we're a week and a half away from the Further Reading post going up! Also, @scottlechowicz, Justice League is sneaking up on us, so we really should get those recommendations assigned this week.
Hack/Slash Resurrection is soo good. FYI there are story spoilers for if you haven't finished the main series.
Completely forgot to pick it up. I picked up Hack/Slash vs. Vampirella which was cool, but the art was so damn ugly.
