I was thinking Earth 2 as well. I never read it, but I loved most of World's Finest, which also dealt with the fallout of that.
I haven't seen what was already suggested, but the obvious one is New 52 JL v1 by Johns & Lee. After that, it is probably just a matter of preference: Death of Superman - Since this will kind of pick up on that story. One of the Justice League of America by Grant Morrison books - This is class Big 7 JL, with Martian Manhunter standing in for Cyborg. New Frontier - An amazing love letter to DC. And then maybe some New Gods stuff: Final Crisis Kirby's 4th World Or something? I will think on it more as well.
Final Crisis is the one I haven't read yet, but I found Infinite Crisis and Infinite Earths crazy hard to understand.
Hickman's Avengers reading order has me reading Thanos Rising, I'm not sure why but I love it (as in I'm not sure why it's in the reading order, not why I love it, that's clear enough). Kinda lucked out just running into a Jason Aaron story like that.
Any specific recs while I read Infinity? Unless I hear otherwise I think I'm just going to read Avengers, New Avengers, and Infinity. And I've already read Guardians of the Galaxy
though I have no desire to buy singles of SS, Nightwing, Teen Titans and whatever the hell else is a tie in.
Yeah those are the tie-ins i didnt plan to pick up lol. The Dark Knights origin stories have all been excellent. the stuff from teen titans and nightwing is heavily referenced in Metal 3 and it sounds pretty interesting. I jist want more Batman Who Laughs
Ah crap. I want to trade wait that stuff. Actually, I haven't ever picked up a Nightwing book. Maybe one day when I'm short on IST I'll grab the first one.
"Bruce, we get it. And we love you. But you need a better writer for non-dark, non-brooding moments." - Diana
In my original read-through, I didn't. Marvel did release the first omnibus volume of Hickman's Avengers, though, and included the first arc of Avengers World in it, so it wouldn't hurt. I think the first arc was by both Hickman and Nick Spencer, and the rest was just Spencer? If you just really wanna see the New Avengers plot accelerate, then I'd say stick to just that and Avengers through to the end, and then go straight to Secret Wars.
The reading order I’m using has me reading through a run of S.H.I.E.L.D. With historical figures like Leonardo da Vinci haha.
Yeah the reading order I'm looking at only has the first 14 issues or so so that must be Hickman's run. I think I'm going to read it, read the first issue and I liked it enough.
Ha, that was at the beginning of the reading order I'm following. I didn't love what I was reading and it didn't seem super important so I just skipped it for the time being. Let me know if it's worth it though!
I'm mad at my Hickman reading order. They have me reading New Avengers and the one damn thing I was looking forward to more than anything, Captain America remembering, was in the Previously on section from an Avengers they hadn't told me to read yet. Talk about a weak reveal. I did go back and read the Avengers issue though and it was increeeedible. Same with when Bruce confronts Tony. I'm adoring this whole run. Black Panther is easily the most interesting character, and I thought the same thing during Secret Empire. Need to start reading more of him asap. I love the stuff between T'challa and Namor...speaking of Namor, I've literally never heard of him before recently and he's popping up everywhere in the stuff I'm reading...Has he ever been popular? I really like what I've seen from him.
An upcoming issue of Squirrel Girl will have a bunch of guest artists, including Garfield creator Jim Davis.
Dammit, another 50 dollars new release week. I didn't know Seeley was taking over for Green Lanterns! Should be interesting
Wow, Horizon's issue this week was spectacular. The series had a serious slow burn and it's paying off in epic proportions.
