  1. Didn't love all the individual stories in 'Graveyard Shift', some were just ok, but that Clayface story was fantastic.

Excited to move on to the next set and get back to something more than just the one offs.

Yeah, Graveyard Shift was just whatever. I had a hard time really getting invested.

Might have to grab volumes 9 & 10 of the Batman run on Amazon since I'd only pay $5 and change using the credit/gift card money I have.

Graveyard Shift is filler but the next three volumes are so good.

He's been looking more and more like you'd imagine a comic book writer for the past year or so but this is the most facial hair I've ever seen on him, haha.

Such a sad situation. Corporate machines suck.

What all those stupid commentaries on Marvel (like that dumb Atlantic article) miss is that a clear majority of the writers, artists, and editors are cool, nice, talented people doing good work. I follow a lot of current and former Marvel people on Twitter (including Tom Breevort Dan Slott, who got unfairly dragged by that, again, dumb Atlantic article), and there's a lot of fun and positivity amongst them, as well as between them and non-Marvel people. Generally, as Chelsea Cain (who has more reason to be pissed than anyone with their hot takes online) says here, Marvel is terrific. (Hickman, while pushing people towards creator-owned, also seems to love the people at Marvel still.)

That big paragraph is a because I'm sick of seeing the good people of Marvel dragged, and then mocked when they don't like being dragged. The business side is terrible (remember, the guy at top is a Trump supporter from the start). But, the people actually responsible for making comics, including editorial, aren't. (Besides Nick Spencer. Screw him.)

It's such a bummer. That book was wonderful and they should be pushing it.

Same thing with DC and the De Liz.

Time to start figuring out our Spider-Man: Homecoming "Further Reading" recommendations!

I know for sure that we should include ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN (specifically #1-13, which is what Ultimate Collection Vol. 1 collects), since it's the best high school Peter series and an inspiration for Tom Holland's take on the character. I also like the idea of including AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: WORLDWIDE Vol. 1 (2015 #1-5), since it's the start of the current run; with Iron Man influencing this film so much, maybe Peter with a status quo like classic Iron Man. With the role that Damage Control plays in the film, DAMAGE CONTROL: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION (which I don't own but hear is a lot of fun) might also be a good choice, if anyone wants to tackle that.

We don't have to do Worldwide or Damage Control, depending on what other suggestions are thrown out there. My other top choices would be Superior Foes of Spider-Man Vol. 1 and Spider-Man: Blue. Anyone have any other ideas? And, anyone want to throw their names in for anything? Feel free to name multiple choices so that, depending on who else asks for whatever, I can get things assigned.

I'm down to contribute but I've been on the last two so I'll let other people grab dibs and then if you still need more, I can do whatever is left.

You've actually been on all 3 so far, lol, as has @Vivatoto I think. I'll give others first call, but if we don't get enough people, maybe you'll be 4 for 4.

The title of this video is goofy and click-bait-y, but this is a fun look at the "Mod Era Wonder Woman" of the 60s and what influenced this ill-fated fashionista take on Diana Prince. (Spoiler: It was Marvel's output in the 60s.)

Also, I had no idea that the reason Wonder Woman used the lasso of truth is because her creator was one of the innovators of the lie detector test.

Indeed. (He was also very much into bondage and submission, so the lasso also indicates that part of his life)

He was an interesting man. He also firmly believed that men were the inferior sex and that we had to learn to lovingly submit to women in order to be saved.

He and his wife were also in a polyamorous relationship with a former grad student of his who lived in their home.

The section on Wonder Woman in Supergods is really interesting. And one of the reasons why my Further Reading contribution was long haha.

He also invented the DISC behavior assessment, which was one of a few different personality tests I had to take when studying Christian Ministry Leadership. When I saw his name in that lesson, I was like, "Wait a second..."

Quite a weird and fascinating individual. I'm intrigued by the upcoming biopic Professor Marston & the Wonder Women.

Unfortunately, he was also incredibly racist.

Wonder Woman Unbound has some pretty terrible anecdotes.

Was he still writer during those gross anti-Japanese propaganda years? Considering how weirdly sexist his brand of female empowerment was ("Women are more inherently submissive, so we should fetishize male submission to women for world peace!"), him being incredibly racist doesn't surprise me. After all, racism and feminism have quite the unpleasant history.

I need to check out Wonder Woman Unbound. I actually just made a list of comic book history books the other day to look into eventually, since I love all the tidbits I come across in various articles and videos.

WW Unbound is really interesting. But I am a sucker for all things comic book history related.

The specific issue that comes to mind is WW #19 where he (and his artist) go to great lengths to be as racist as possible. Just look up some images of how sub human the Africans in that issue are drawn.

Off the top of my head, I am not sure if he was responsible for the issues you mention, but I know he did write some pretty bad anti-asian issues. And a few anti-semetic ones was well.

They didn't give her any details about being nominated for an Eisner. She was basically in the dark about the who thing. She freaked out because she thought what they were doing was shutting her out over a canceled book.

They are actually working to give her the best representation possible but didn't let her know until she lashed out. She is now content.
