Oh yeah, when I was reading through all of Morrison's run. I'm going to have to go back and read it again though because I didn't know who Quietly was at the time and don't remember his art specifically, though I know I loved it.
Just read Bendis and Maleev's Scarlet: Book 1, and now I'm annoyed 'cause I really wanna read Book 2, but I bought Book 1 as a trade paperback, and Book 2 is still only available in hardcover, and I don't feel like being inconsistent. Anyways, yeah, I loved it. Though, I just generally love Bendis' writing style a lot (as long as his cast of characters doesn't get too big), so that's no surprise.
Looks like early 2000's. I needed something in the Wildcat universe and I saw Nguyen's name and randomly decided to dive in there. Yeah Revival is great, some slow stuff in the middle of the series but it ends at its best.
Seriously! There are too many! Nate Powell, Valentine De Landro, Nick Dragotta, Tom Coker, Glyn Dillon, Fiona Staples!
This Jorge Molina sketch has a very Chris Bachalo feel to it and makes me really wanna see him do a book starring either Peter or Miles (or, why not, both).
Knew you'd love it. The second hc came out three or four months ago, so we should get the trade soon.
Haha, I'm not a huge fan of Morrison either but there's definitely been a decent amount of his stuff I've been interested in where I've just put it off because of Quietly. Most recently his Batman and Robin stuff. I haven't read any of Morrison's Batman but those were the ones I'd heard the best things about.
Except Bachalo and Molina are talented, and Ramos is sloppy trash. But, really, I once met someone who's inked Ramos on Spidey before (I'm blanking on his name), and when we were talking, Ramos came up when discussing Spider-Man. I politely said that I don't like modern Ramos stuff 'cause it's too sloppy, and he politely agreed. So, I'm not alone! (This same guy inked some Detective when Gordon was Batman and didn't know it was Gordon until someone at the con mentioned it to him, which I thought was funny.) The final drawing looks so good.
I haven't read as much Morrison or Quitely as I should have, but I've read enough to think that either great talent is somehow holding the other back is wild to me, lol. One of my irl friends doesn't like Quitely either, which I find so weird, but different strokes, I guess?
He just draws real ugly faces. Makes everyone look like a 90 year old woman. I do think he has very cool layouts at times though.
Morrison is my everything haha. New X-Men, Doom Patrol, Invisibles, We3, All-Star Superman, Final Crisis, Batman & Robin, 52, Seaguy, Seven Soldiers of Victory. There just isn't anyone equal to him who is still active. (I'm not counting Alan Moore as active) Which pretty much means Quitely is my everything.
But you love Gerard! His whole writing style in comics is "let's be as Grant Morrison-y as I can be" haha. If you love him, Morrison should be such an easy sell. His Doom Patrol and Invisibles basically crafted a lot of who Gerard Way is. Like, Umbrella Academy could have been written by Morrison. (Which is pretty much the biggest compliment I can give haha.)
