Venomverse: Marvel Reveals First Look At, Details About Event's Story This looks like a total blast. I haven't read much Cullen Bunn stuff, but based on what he's done, he's the perfect fit for this kind of nonsensical, fun ride. Hopefully I like the artist(s) on the main story.
Oh, Dan doesn't have the awful history of Eddie. But Dan does have a tendency to piss off fans by saying stupid stuff (for example he kept on needling the fans about how he wants Nightwing dead). I was just joking that DC didn't want any scandals so they are hiding their two biggest liabilities: the harasser and the big mouth.
Bunn is one of my favorite writers of this decade. His Magneto and Uncanny X-Men series are must read. Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe too especially with the followup coming this Summer. Bunn has a great understanding of why people love the X-Men since he combines his love of Claremont and modern comics. X-Men Blue is more light hearted compared to the other darker titles he's done.
The only Bunn things I've read are the first Magneto trade (gotta get the rest eventually) and X-Men: Blue (which is great, but since it's twice-monthly, I'll probably stop keeping up when Astonishing X-Men starts). Both are great. Can't bring myself to read his Uncanny X-Men run, though, 'cause of that Greg Land art. Ew. I enjoy but don't love Deadpool, but I do wanna get Back in Black eventually. Wasn't that Bunn? Also wanna get Monsters Unleashed eventually.
get him, Jason sidebar: how are you feeling about Zero Year so far? It's probably my favorite arc in Snyder's Batman and I never would have dreamed I would love *another* origin story as much as I do this one.
man, they're practically neck and neck. it's very hard to choose and I don't want to talk up Endgame too much because I want that to be a surprise.
Really wanna read Superheavy and Bloom eventually. (Almost got the trades at Half Price Books the other week, but I'm poor and still focused on my Spidey collecting.) Also still need to get the rest of Morrison's Batman & Robin. What can I say? Batman interests me more when he isn't Batman.
Likewise. I think all the fallout from Endgame is done so well and also gives that story more weight. I think those two volumes are pretty underrated based on what I've seen.
Now that I'm reading them in trade, I agree. When I was reading monthly, I was a bit turned off that they stopped the present-day story for yet another origin story. Granted, it's a great one; but back then I wanted to know where things would go immediately after Death of the Family. Edit: Also love that avatar! This past Sunday's episode has me all the more hyped for next week's (and disappointed it's the end, haha).
So far it's great. I'm like you, I've read a lot of those stories ... but I think this is a fresh spin on it and I'm excited to follow the thread. Took me a while to figure out what was going on, haha, but I'm a fan. It would make a good movie.
