I read, I believe, through issue 7. I actually did not enjoy it. It just didn't grab me into the world the way his other works have.

I have a friend who really digs it, though, and thinks I am crazy haha. So it is probably just me.

Sadly, Brian Wood is someone who has been accused of unwanted sexual advances to women in the comic book world. Which really sucks, because I have always really liked his work. It is something I really struggle with when approaching his work.

    Part 1

    Part 2

Yeah, it was kind of an open secret for a while and it went public a few years back.

The comic book industry is still really bad in this respect. There seems to be a lot of people working to make it a safer space, especially for victims to come forward, but it isn't easy. Especially with a segment of the comic book reading public being less than enlightened with regard to these issues.

I take back my joke as it is something that the author likely said to someone.

I literally cringe at the thought of what someone who is a serial harasser, with the last name of Wood, might say out loud.

    Read all of the Button.

Overall, I really liked it. The whole thing was well written, and the Fabok art, while very stock DC house style, was really solid. The first issue was particularly cool: I really dug the idea of Batman just trying to survive until Flash got to him, and also the panel of Reverse Flash smiling with Batman's bloody spit in the button position. I also thought the hockey fight at the beginning was a fun metacommentary on comics becoming more violent.

It's a bummer that I couldn't get into the Porter art in the Flash issues. It just felt really rough to me, and I also didn't dig the coloring. It didn't ruin the book, but a better artist, even another standard DC-style one, would've been nice.

Anyways, the final pages of Flash #22 teased Doomsday Clock in a way that, while not revealing anything new, totally upped my hype for that series. The 2-page spread zooming into the button and out of the Superman logo was sick. Doctor Manhattan was always my favorite Watchmen character, and his interaction with Supes will probably be fantastic.

Excited to read all of this at some point. No idea what the actual story is but I'm interested, ha.

So, apparently Marvel decided that the bad PR of Secret Empire couldn't possibly get worse and added another issue to the event, following in the footsteps of the similarly expanded Secret Wars masterpiece and Civil War II disappointment.

Interestingly enough, the shield logo on the new issue's cover, which has been shifting from the recent Cap's shield to a full-on Hydra symbol with each issue, is blurred out for now. Wonder what that means in light of the newest issue's final page, which apparently revealed someone claiming to be Steve Rogers. Maybe they wanted to better resolve the whole Cap thing in the pages of this event before moving past it to the Legacy branding this fall.

Always starts with just 2 or 3 comics...

...and ends with 2 or 3 to-read piles.

as a man who loves to read books and only really started in 2013 i can attest to this knowledge.

started in 2013 with 3 books and i thought, "i'll only buy as i finish them". now, mid-way through 2017 i own 562 books with 207 still waiting to be read.

can't wait to do the same with comics :-|:-)

Next Tuesday is a Spidey podcast with @Jason Tate. If anyone wants to catch up before it, we cover Spider-Gwen #1-5 and the current #1-18 and annual #1. Then we cover ultimate comics spider-man #1-28, miles morales ultimate spider-man #1-12 and the current Spider-man #1-15. Plus there's talk for the spectacular spider-man animated series to start the show. I'll have podcast chapters for anyone who wants to avoid spoilers if they don't get to each series.

I'm always down to talk about how much better Garfield is than Maguire. Or the comics Spider-Man Blue, Superior Foes of Spider-Man, Torment, Venom, 60s stuff... I really like Spider-Man. lol.

I will try to fix a few of those for you in the edit! Haha. I did this with something recently, too. I just can't remember what it was.
