The only time digital comics bite me are the damn comixology sales. My 'to-read' list is way out of hand right now.
I'm going to try and get some art from Leslie and Bryan. The combo of those two is so damn perfect. Also want to pick up a piece from Tara McPherson. Her art is unreal.
Think I've finally settled on my reduced pull list: All-New Wolverine Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows Avengers Hawkeye Kill or Be Killed Mighty Thor Ms Marvel Paper Girls Peter Parker, Spectacular Spider-Man Silver Surfer Spider-Man Superman That's a dozen titles, which still is probably more than it should be (since I have some IST Spidey orders I'll be placing in coming months), but that's alright. Still some pretty good trimming. Hopefully I get a full-time job this summer and don't have to trim even more in the fall!
Cullen Bunn's Regression seems like it could be good, I'll stick around. I think I like the art but I need to see more characters. I thought Molly looked good. The artist can certainly draw bugs.
I think I heard somewhere that they're gonna continue the series when Spencer's Marvel event work wraps up. I hope he puts all his effort into his creator-own work after Secret Empire, not 'cause I read any of it, but 'cause I want Marvel to be free of him for a while. Give Cap some new life. Spencer can come back in a couple years, but only if it's for a series that's more Superior Foes and less Sam Wilson. lol.
Reading through Rucka's Wonder Woman tonight. He does such great things for this character. His Rebirth origin story was fantastic.
So it turns out MG is at issue 50! Holy crap! And a quick google search found a recent interview where he says he has a 100 issue plan. I think I read the first 25 or so issues, and I felt so jerked around I had to quit. I can't imagine reading 100 issues like that. Another random thought, is Ales Kot writing anything right now? He was an interesting talent, but he seems to have left the stage for a bit, so to speak.
Yay! just got notice that my copy of Paper Girls Vol 1 is ready to pick up at the library. Excited to start this. Working on reading some stuff that is always recommended to me, just finding the time haha. Halfway through Locke & Key vol 2. really enjoying that. Going to try out Ed Brubaker's Criminal as well, I tend to love his work. I am going to try Saga again. I struggled with the first volume first time around.
I'm not following the current Venom series, but I think I'm gonna try to pick up #150 when it comes out on the 24th. Looks pretty sweet. The main story is the return of Eddie Brock as Venom in an oversized story by guest artist Tradd Moore, and one of the back-ups is set during the Lethal Protector mini from the 90s by David Michelinie and Ron Lim. Too bad I dislike the series' regular artist, but considering I already have to pass on pulling Scarlet Spider monthly due to funds, being able to easily limit myself to only one issue of Venom is for the best, lol.
I don't love him quite as much as some people, but I really appreciate his artistry and think he's a fantastic fit for Venom, even for just one issue. His beefy-yet-kinetic style is such a perfect match for this character.
Based on a quick Google search, he has an Image series w/ Ales Kot called The New World on the horizon. Besides that, probably mostly random odds and ends. I know he contributed a little to the first issue of the most recent short-lived Ghost Rider series.
I still haven't picked a Spidey one for my phone haha. But I did catch up on Spider-Gwen today! So there's that at least.
I think I'm going to have to push my IST orders to every two weeks. Now that I have the time to read them, I don't have the extra money coming in from school. Boooo. Really looking forward to this weeks order though.
Unfortunately yes. Granted I was really bummed and dropped the series when Tana Ford replaced Stacey Lee as primary artist, but still. Great character. Plan on completing the series eventually.
