First arc of the second Green Arrow trade was great. Loved the story focusing on his sister, even if it felt a bit too much like Hawkeye. The rest of the book, not so much.
update on my damaged book from IST: they send me a replacement today and said due to the low cost of the item, no need to send the other one back! so i'm giving it to my friend, woo.
i'm way behind on comic reading. i'm behind on pretty much all entertainment stuff. still excited about Paper Girls tomorrow.
Anybody going to FCBD this weekend? Got any cool events/signings going on? I'm trying to convince my dad to go so I can get stuff signed by Rob Guillory.
I'll be visiting my friend in San Francisco so I'm going to check out one of the stores by him! The artist from East of West (can't remember his name) will be at one so I'm hoping to go to that.
I'll be joining some people, including some youth from my brother's church, for our third annual "Nerd Day." We go to a couple different comic book shops, a nice toy/collectables shop that also has comics, and a couple other cool places. Always a good time for good deals and nerdy fellowship. Dunno how much I'll be able to spend (since I ain't currently rolling in the dough), but I'm at least gonna try to continue my current project: collecting Spider-Man comics from between the Alien Costume Saga and Kraven's Last Hunt in the 80s.
Just read Black Bolt #1 and really enjoyed it. A nice little mystery with some beautiful art by Christian Ward! Also, read All New Guardians of the Galaxy and that's exactly what I wanted when I read Bendis' first trade. It has the humor of the group with a strange and darker cosmic mystery interwoven. Solid first issue and I really want the trade when it comes out!
I still adore Paper Girls, it's one of my favorite comics currently running, but I don't know if they're going to beat the first trade for me. The Halloween setting was perfect. It's not a dip in quality or anything, I just really really like Halloween, haha.
I'll give out final Wonder Woman "Further Reading" assignments later today. Hey @lightning13, you never gave a definitive answer when I asked you to write a short Legend of Wonder Woman blurb, lol. Is that something you'd have interest in (even though you hadn't finished when I last offered)? Part of the reason I'm interesting in roping you into this is because getting another woman involved in this one, if possible, would be cool ('cause, like, it's Wonder Woman, lol), but if you don't have enough time or interest, that's cool.
Place by me has really great used books all of the time and they put them, along with all new trades, 20% off so I'm stoked for that. Haven't looked to see what's gonna be free cause I like the surprise haha
Well that was the most heartbreaking issue of the Walking Dead ever. Pretty much cried the whole issue, even during Kirkman's afterword, which really resonated with me. Fuck. Perfect example of the heights the comics reaches that the show can't even come close to.
Just read Batman #22 and waiting on my friend to edit my review for me. Will post it here once it's up. Hopefully I'll read the rest of this week's issues in a more timely manner than I have been lately haha.
Breezed through the issues of The Button. Really liking it so far. Not sure how it concludes without feeling rushed.
