Speaking of Kill or Be Killed, their last book The Fade Out was very very good. Only 12 issues as well, contained to two trades, so I'd recommend that. I haven't read Fatale but I hear that's great too.
Read the first part of The Button, Batman #21 I think. I'm really excited to see where this one goes. The fight scene was pretty dope and I'm a fan of Fabok's art.
anyone read Attack on Titan on a monthly basis?? Binged the entire manga last week and now im completely caught up. Its insane to me where this manga goes. Like... if you compare those initial volumes to where the series is with the most recent issues, it feels like a completely different series. Absolutely love this series.
I might start. I was waiting for so long for season 2 and it's not really grabbing me so far. Might just blast through the manga.
this season defiantly has a slow start, but dont worry too much cause things will go bat-shit insane soon.
the art style is something to get used to for sure. The first couple volumes have pretty awful art, but he really comes into his style as the series progresses. I would go as far as to say he needs to go back and redraw the original volumes cause hes improved so much.
I hope with them moving to 12 episode seasons, they will do 1 season a year. In which case i can see them pacing the show perfectly as the major arcs of the manga fit really well into 12 episode segments.
as much as i LOVE the art style of the manga as well, the one thing the show does 10x better is conveying the action. The cleanness of the animation really lends itself to the fast paced zipping around everywhere of the action. While in the manga its a lot harder to convey the speed/maneuverability of everything via the art work alone, and it can get confusing at times what is actually happenings during a fight scene.
I read the first issue of Ray Fawkes Underwinter last night. I really enjoyed it. Fawkes surreal water colors were perfect to convey the unease of the story. It won't be for everyone, but I was very impressed. Almost like a more impressionist version of David Mack. Also, Dept. H has me completely engaged. It hasn't hit the incredible highs of Mind MGMT, but it is very strong book.
Geekdom will be about V For Vendetta tomorrow. Both the comic and the movie. It's not a long episode, but it was a fun chat.
The way Marvel and DC handle HCs and TPBs was a constant source of frustration when I purchased physical copies.
It's gotten a lot better with Rebirth. Thank God for them going the tpb route pretty quick this time. I'm cool with Snyder and event books being hardcover.
I picked up Punk Rock Jesus this weekend at the DC tent at the LA TImes Festival of Books. I usually don't venture outside of superhero comics, so I'm interested to see what I have in store.
it's definitely way better than it was with the new 52. that's a big reason i was mostly buying floppies at the time. now i have a bit more patience, but yeah it's nice they're going tpb first. i get why they do hc first for bigger books like this, it's mostly just frustrating that i have to wait so long to read it now haha. well i don't have to, but you know.
