I really dig the idea of encouraging the creation of new characters for the DCU / MU. But also, one of the best ways to get talent to create new characters in the WFH world is to offer them better royalties / rights. It isn't worth it for them if, down the line the character does take off, they are battling for pennies while the character is making the company hundreds of millions of dollars. Might as well save up the good stuff for use at Image or whatever. Maybe offer better terms, obviously not the same terms they'd get at IMAGE, but at least BETTER terms and maybe things would be different. Side note, I have heard that DC is actually pretty good at getting people money for characters created. In fact, I think it was recently that Jim Starlin said he has made more money off of KGBeast's use in BvS then he has from Marvel's use of Thanos, Drax, and Gamora.
Anyone reading the American Gods comic? I just did a podcast on the book and will be watching the show hopefully. Just wondering if the comic is worth a read, too!
Mother Panic is pretty good if you like Gotham and want to see something different than the Bat-family. The main character's "fuck all" attitude is fun. Batwoman even made an appearance recently.
Ugh I need to read the book. I read a book from Gaiman a long time ago and didn't love it so I never jumped back into his stuff. Now with the movie and the comic it's probably about time.
And then listen to the podcast! Haha. We didn't really end up going into spoilers. So we talked about it more generally.
Comic book reviews for today for anyone interested: Review: Batman #21 - HiFi Noise Batwoman #2 Review | Comic Book Blog | Talking Comics I might try to review the entire Batman/Flash crossover.
my ist order arrives today, one day earlier than expected woooooo. snotgirl vol 1 southern bastards vol 1 (read this already in single issue form, wanted the trades) batman vol 1 batman vol 2 batman vol 4 batman vol 5 batman vol 6 batman vol 7 batman vol 8 batman vol 9 read the snyder/capullo run already but recently sold all my floppies and wanted to have these in trade.
Been making my way through Dept. H. I think I am at issue #9, and I really dig it. Took a few issues for me to become fully engaged, but now I am all in. I love when Matt Kindt writes & draws a book.
Haha I know I got like $250 for selling my floppies (I don't even want to calculate what I paid but it was sure a hell of a lot more than that) so I'm using that money to replace the stuff I want to replace and then of course get some new shit. I'll probably place an equally large order in the next week or two.
Comixology has an Image Spotlight sale. They're Not Like Us vol. 1 is $3.99 and Vol. 2 it 5.99. Same price for ODY-C vol. 1 & 2. I recommend They're Not Like Us.
The new 52 Batman books look so dumb. Why would they not make them all look the same? Surely it can't be that difficult.
I've had some bowed shelves for years and the bookshelf is still standing haha. And the shelves aren't as thick as yours. You might be fine.
