Popping by real quick. Anyone else reading Supergirl being Super? Picked it up on impulse and enjoying it a lot.
I'm waiting for the trade (my strategy with most minis), but I love what I've seen of it so far. Mariko Tamaki and Joelle Jones are both awesome.
Oh, that's awesome. First Supergirl comic I've read, and first time I've encountered Tamaki and Jones as well. I just saw the synopsis and felt like it was right up my alley. So I really didn't know what to expect. Turns out it is def up my alley. @Vivatoto yeah that really caught me off guard. Can't wait for the next one.
Tamaki is writing Hulk, which is currently an excellent slow-burning series centered on Jen Walters as she works through the trauma of Civil War II. So very good. She also wrote the graphic novel This One Summer, which was great.
I liked most of the New 52 Supergirl run, for what it was. It got pretty bad at the end, but the first few arcs were great. Red Lantern Supergirl is awesome. That reminds me, I need to finish the Red Lantern book. Read Loeb's Supergirl run a while back but wasn't too into it.
The last bit of Red Lanterns is pretty disappointing. Almost no Atrocitus and Bleeze, basically entirely focused on Guy Gardener.
That's a bit of a bummer, though I've grown to love Guy in Injustice. I'm not too familiar with him otherwise.
I really like him as a Red Lantern but otherwise he's just been boring bro-soldier guy for me. I agree he's good in Injustice.
Just finally started reading the Spider-Island run with the graphic novel, heard good things. Im thinking about trying Blue after that one.
Just finished up The Judas Contract. WonderCon is doing a couple screenings of the movie so I may try to see it there, but either way I'm looking forward to it.
I am finally getting back into the whole comics reading groove. In addition to reading through X-Men, I am catching up on some DC Rebirth books. First up is Detective Comics, an enjoyable book. The team dynamic works well, and while it is a little too dialogue heavy, the themes that they are playing with are interesting (if not new). The Victim's Syndicate was a nice addition. And I really dug their character designs. I'd consider this an above average comic book.
Haha well I'm pretty sure Mike doesn't know you, so you're in the clear until Tim comes back on the podcast.
I wasn't super thrilled with the prices of Irredeemable so I was kind of shuffling my feet starting it but I ordered the first premier edition and oh jeeze it's gorgeous, I can see why it cost a little more.
Managed to walk out of the library today without any books or comics. Now I can focus on the probably 50+ trades I own and have yet to read. I may or may not own too many books/comics in general.
