At the rate you buy trades, you could probably catch up with the modern universe within months, lol. I've heard good things, and they have good creators sometimes, but I never pull the trigger. The initial Faith mini was cool, and I own but haven't yet read The Valiant 'cause the Paolo Rivera art in it is fantastic. I just love Marvel (and I guess like DC, lol) enough that, if I want superheroes, I don't like venturing out of those worlds. There's plenty of non-cape creator-owned stuff to scratch my non-Big 2 itch.
The biggest issue for me is that they don't typically hit the price range I'm into. Marvel, Image and DC are usually 45-50% off on IST and are between $5-12 a pop. On the higher end, it is usually stuff I'm already invested in. Dynamite, Dark Horse, and Valiant books always tend to be a bit more, so I'm reluctant. Its what is holding me back from digging into Hellboy and old Red Sonja stuff.
Makes sense. You should at least toss The Valiant by Lemire, Kindt, and Rivera into your next IST order, if you're curious. Like I said, I haven't read my copy yet, but the Rivera art is excellent. Plus, I've heard my friends say it's an accessible trade and what got some of them into Valiant.
Finished Hack/Slash. That ending was pretty great. There was one character I thought was destined to die, and I'm so happy they didn't. lol
Picked up the first trades of Birthright, East of West and They're Not Like Us today. Time to get sucked in to more books.
I'm almost caught up on Revival and just found out it ends Wednesday...so I guess that worked out well
Get on it! Starts off great, ok in the middle, but the final issues have been phenomenal. And speaking of final issues, I read the penultimate Nailbiter issue...shit's crazy.
So I just now looked up the reading order for Johns' GL run. I read Blackest Night and a trade or two aside from the main one. I also own Rebirth and Secret Origin. But man, is there a lot to fill in haha.
@Deanna @Vivatoto @dadbolt @Allpwrtoslaves @xapplexpiex If possible, I'd like all the Logan blurbs by the end of Friday (one week before the movie hits theaters in the US). That way, I have plenty of time to show the post to Jason and have him decide how he wants to run it. If you need a little extra time, please let me know! Thanks!
Will do! I need to finish up reading but the Weapon X issues are really short so shouldn't be a problem. At least I'm hoping MU and Comixology wouldn't lie about the 9 pages for these issues haha.
And here's that Old Man Logan episode with @dadbolt as promised: Welcome To Geekdom Episode 019: Old Man Logan (Millar) If anyone here also uses Overcast, would be awesome if you could hit the rec button. Or if you feel so inclined, rating and reviewing on iTunes does help a lot. But not necessary! I'll happily take just any of you checking it out.
Will definitely listen. I have a question though. I hear this slot on other podcasts as well so not just yours, but why do they all ask specifically for iTunes reviews and ratings? Other apps have the same thing as well I'm just curious why it's only specifically iTunes. Always been curious about that.
Can't speak for other pods, but my stats show Mac/iOS for most listeners. And most apps use the iTunes search engine thing in their apps I think. Probably mainly because it's the main one? I did submit the podcast to Google Play, though. I just don't know if all Android apps switched to the Google Play podcast search. I hope this makes at least some sense haha.
That does help thanks! I imagine most people do listen with iPhones considering there are ALOT OUT there in the world lol. Just thought it was weird to specifically call them out. Makes sense, thanks! I'll let you know after I listen to the podcast
