Yep! If you read that one, it's worth noting that the story was written, penciled, inked, AND colored by Barry Windsor-Smith, and he even co-lettered it. I'm not one to romanticize a single creative vision over a good collaborative effort, but there is something neat about it being a rare Marvel story where one person did literally everything (except for lettering, which again, he still had a hand in doing).
I refuse to read "One More Day" itself, but I did read and enjoy the follow-up "One Moment In Time" in spite of hating the story it elaborated on. At least in just dealt with the new continuity instead of showing the Mephisto nonsense that led to said continuity, lol. The art by Quesada and Rivera in that story was so nice to look at.
Sweet. I'll get to reading that this week! Any particular guidelines for the blurb or just similar to our personal recs with a little added on why to read it before the movie?
I hope so. The fewer, the better. Nice, thanks! Yeah, basically that exactly. A nice blurb talking about the story, and also why someone who just saw Logan should consider reading it. Obviously we have to guess based off trailers, but I'm sure that's enough to make the connection. Nice, thanks!
New update: - Weapon X (@Deanna) - Old Man Logan (@dadbolt) - Death of Wolverine (@Allpwrtoslaves) - All-New Wolverine (me) Still looking to include X-23 Complete Collection Vol. 1 and/or Rucka's Wolverine. I'll write a second blurb if necessary. I messaged @xapplexpiex on Facebook about this, even though he's not active here anymore, so maybe he'll be able to contribute. Still open to anyone else interested.
I've barely seen him post, but he did a little bit early on in the site's life. He can speak for himself, but I think the Facebook group he helps run that some of us are in (I forget if you're in it or not) just monopolizes his online comic book talk these days, lol.
I am I just never frequent FB really. Plus I'd much rather talk to you guys and get chastised for my shitty opinions because I actually know most of y'all in here
I'm reading X-23 right now so I'll be able to write that one if nobody else with more knowledge of the xmen universe wants to.
LOL, um, I was just typing up a big post saying that Ross is doing X-23. I Facebooked him, and that's the one he picked, and he picked it before you made you post. SORRY! I'm currently planning on writing two blurbs (both Greg Rucka's Wolverine and All-New Wolverine Vol. 1), so if you're able to read one of those, you can take one of them from me? We have 2 and a half weeks before the blurb due date I'm about to establish, so if you can read one of those and write a blurb on it in that time, you can do that. I know you expressed interest in Rucka's run at one point, so if you can access that (I forget if you have MU, or if you'd have to look for it physically), maybe it'd be a good choice. If you don't have time for the whole 19-issue (3-arc) run, you can even just read the first two arcs, or even just the first one if you have to, and then I'll still link to the trade with the whole run in it. If that doesn't work for you, we'll get you into the next batch. Sorry again!
That's totally cool, I wanted to read X23 anyway, just finished the first arc and loved it. Looks like there's a complete collection (all 19 issues) for Rucka's run on Amazon, ordering it now so you can put me down for that.
The final list (in the order that I currently foresee them going): Weapon X by BWS (@Deanna) Wolverine by Greg Rucka (@Vivatoto) X-23 (@xapplexpiex) Old Man Logan (@dadbolt) Death of Wolverine (@Allpwrtoslaves) All-New Wolverine (Tim) When you finish your blurb (which, again, should be one paragraph long and talk about both the story and at least one thing about why someone who saw Logan should read it), please PM the blurb to me or, if you have to, post it in here. I'd like your blurb by Friday, February 24, which is one week before the film comes out (and two and a half weeks from today). If there's a reason on that you can't make that deadline, let me know! The current plan is for this to go live on March 3, the day that the movie comes out. Sometime after that, we'll discuss the choices for next film, which is GOTG vol 2. Ross (@xapplexpiex) is a massive fanboy of all things Marvel Cosmic, so he'll be as big a help with those choices as I hopefully was for these ones! Hopefully these go well and get some people into more comics while also getting more comic book fans into this thread!
