I'm really excited about checking out Curse Words today. Also i picked up the two Zero Year trades because I didnt ever read them during the Snyder/Cappulo Batman run. Finished Vol 4 and I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to read them.
She then admitted that "Call Me Maybe" was her ringtone for a while, and that Cullen likes her, too: All this 'cause I replied to a comic writer retweeting his wife's lamp, and then she looked at my profile to tease me back. lol.
I was thinking of grabbing Curse Words, but the only copy I saw at my shop was $25. So I grabbed Monsters Unleashed, which I'm reviewing, and Kill or be Killed Vol. 1 instead.
I hope Monsters Unleashed is good and generally well-received, if for no other reason than to tone down the whining over events. There are people who don't like events, and that's fine, but the hot takes fueled by Death of X and Civil War II missing have been so tiring, lol. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with regularly scheduled big crossover stories. Like any type of storytelling, it's just a matter of whether or not that particular story lands.
I haven't checked out too many Marvel events outside of the initial Civil War. I got like 48 issues into the (I think) 98 of all of the tie-ins. So it can be a bit much at times, but I thought the Civil War trade itself was totally fine. I do want to check out some more events via Unlimited though, any suggestions?
Good events really don't need tie-ins; I view them as supplemental materials. My favorite event is the recent Secret Wars one by Hickman, but that one requires patience to fully appreciate 'cause it built off his Avengers work. If you read the entire Avengers and New Avengers runs (including the Infinity event), and then Secret Wars, you'll be reading nearly 100 issues! If you're interested in a really big Marvel epic, though, I'd recommend it. My second favorite event is House of M, which is easier to read without prior knowledge. It builds off of Avengers Disassembled and previous Scarlet Witch stuff, but I think you'd be fine just reading the event miniseries itself.
Okay, thanks. I know I've read the original Secret Wars and Secret Wars II, but never dug into the recent one. I think that's why I gave up on the CW tie-ins haha. It was just all a bit too much. Marvel Unlimited is good at putting events together though and giving you a nice reading order, so that's a plus. I did read House of M actually, I guess I didn't realize at the time it was a full on event. That was a good read for sure.
Ok, best issue of Green Lanterns yet. Not exactly an eventfilled issue but it's entirely about Jessica's anxiety and it was done so damn well. She's been a favorite of mine for awhile now and this makes it even more clear. I usually like long storylines more, but the two best from this series have been single issue stories, this one and the Halloween one. And the Darkest Knight is going to be fucking awesome.
Picked up Kill or be Killed v1 and Sunstone v5. The first time my lcs has had the latter in the first day, usually order off amazon, just forgot and took a chance they'd have it.
I don't. Excited for his take on the original X-Men in X-Men: Blue, especially with Magneto in charge. I'm not 100% sure yet if I'm gonna pull or trade-wait it, but Bunn and Jorge Molina on X-Men just sounds delightful.
Just reread the first dozen issues of the first Miles Morales series in light of the animated movie news. Man, this character is just so fantastic. I hope the film creates a generation of new Miles fans.
To be fair I didn't read Sinestro or Lobo cuz I wasnt that interested, however I was hoping he'd take on some others so I could check them out. I really liked the first trade of Sixth Gun, need to get more of that. On a related note, I was sad to see Duggan become Marvel exclusive because I loved Arkham Manor and was hoping for more from him. Cullen isn't exclusive right? What animated movie?
Honestly, I don't know what his contracts are like, but with how much Marvel he's done lately, I wouldn't be surprised if he's sticking to just them and indie stuff for now. Didn't you hear? The December 2018 Sony Animation Spider-Man film developed by Lord & Miller is going to star Miles Morales!
That seems to be the consensus, we just did not enjoy it at all. I don't know if it's the humor that I didn't like or what but we've seen it twice in theaters and just nah.
This is the worst post ever. lol. Dang it, Colby. Thankfully for you, I'm sure the Miles film will have more in common with Big Hero 6 and The Incredibles than The LEGO Movie, but still...
so what DC Rebirth title do people recommend grabbing the trades for? I picked the Batman the other day and dug it, also have Superman and the Flash trades. I've pretty much completely stop paying attention to DC (but want to jump back in) so I don't know which series have been getting all the hype.
