I'll have to check out that one, never listened before. Do they cover a wide range of books? DC, Marvel, Image?
Yeah. They go over a bunch of weekly issues and then tend to pick a book of the week which will either be a single issue or a trade once in a while. They also review the shows and movies as they come out, which is when some episodes can get really long.
Only podcast I listen to is 538 (yay politics?), but I may get into the podcast game and listen to that, too. Hm.
This is a really great analysis of Rebirth DC Comics' latest reboot: The good, the bad and the interesting
That was a good read. My positive feelings about the "reboot" are greatly outnumbering my negative ones.
It's probably more akin to Marvel's post-Secret Wars "All-New All-Different Marvel" relaunch, where there's a bunch of status quo changes and all new #1s (except they're returning to old numbering for Action Comics and Detective Comics so they can reach #1000), but it's not really a "reboot" like New 52 was. In a way, they're undoing New 52 insomuch as the prior history is restored, but they're also not erasing what's happened in that time.
ifanboy is the best comic podcast out there if you ask me. 3 best friends just discussing their favourite books from every week, its really nice if you want to keep up with current series or just want to know new/good stories to try out. They also used to have a video show that you can probably find on youtube. 11 oclock comics is also an amazing podcast in which they have a lot more long form discussions about different comic related subjects. (new books, old books, etc.)
I listen to probably way too many podcasts. Every time I cut down a new show pops up that I want to listen to.
Rebirth is so damn confusing. I get the gist of it, but like, is Wonder Woman still a god or is she just regular old Wonder Woman?
I wouldn't call it confusing so much as intentionally vague. Like, "You gotta read it to find out!" I wouldn't be surprised if they retconned much of what New 52 did with WW, which would suck because Diana: God of War was such an awesome concept.
New Talking Comics podcast is 3 1/2 hours. This is the one thing that makes me consider switching back to iFanboy because they tend to have much shorter episodes in comparison haha.
I don't think I could hold a three hour conversation about a bunch of things, much less just comic books.
Haha right? The episode covers the Rebirth announcement and BvS from what I can tell. Only a little more than an hour in though.
Saga Volume One was a lot to take in, I'm looking forward to reading the next volume but yesterday instead of picking that up I picked up a different Image title (trying to broaden my horizons) wytches.
Halfway through New 52 Flash vol. 1, not sure what took so long. This is excellent. Francis Manapul is one of the few DC artists I actively love. I'm probably pulling the Trinity series in this Rebirth relaunch just for him.
The art after Manapul and Buccelato leave the title kinda turns me off. Don't like the art style, don't like the slight costume redesign. Since I'm so behind, I may just skip to the Rebirth series when I get to that point, lol. Been thinking about getting the classic Flash omnibus, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Carmine Infantino's original Flash work was so cool. His work laid the groundwork for Marvel in the 60s, and he was also the co-creator of Barbara Gordon Batgirl. So, I'm pretty happy he existed, lol.
I read through the first two trades and then have issues 13 - 38 in Comixology, which I always forget about. But they were like $1 each or something so I couldn't pass up the price. Do you recall what issue the 6th trade ended on?
That was up to 35. From what I've read, 40 is when it really falls off. I didn't like the redesign either @Tim .
This main villain from the upcoming Flash series looks sick and hopefully ends up on the show eventually, even though they need a season big bad who isn't a speedster eventually.
