Hey, guys, I've been writing review over at talking comics! Mother Panic #1: A Work In Progress Part One | Comic Book Blog | Talking Comics Been really enjoying the Young Animal stuff that's coming out. Really can't wait for the Doom Patrol and Mother Panic trades!
Just started reading Superman/Wonder Woman Vol. 1 from New 52. Only on the second issue, but it's decent so far. Also picked up Vol. 1 of Morrison's Action Comics from the library.
Volume 2 of Supes/WW was really bad imo. I wasn't a big fan of Morrison's Superman, but I'm not huge on the character to begin with. There are only a handful of stories that I really love. Basically Red Son, All-Star, and For All Seasons
Yeah the library only had Vol. 1 so who knows if I'll get around to Vol. 2 ever haha. This branch didn't have a ton of Supes stuff so I just grabbed what seemed like it'd have some chance of me liking it. I still need to read the second half of All-Star! One of the other branches only had Vol. 1. Wish they had the fully collected edition. May have to grab that on IST if I ever manage to make more room for books.
Thompson did great with what I've read of Jem, the Romero art released so far looks good, and we're getting Bellaire colors on this sucker. I think it's gonna be really good. I think All-New Hawkeye failed because it didn't have a strong sense of direction and existed just to exist, while also trying too hard to recapture what made the work of Fraction, Aja, Wu, Hollingsworth, etc., so good. This series, on the other hand, feels more like a natural progression from part of that Fraction run.
That has me relieved. I'll probably pick up the first issue or two. That guy on your facebook has me scratching my damn head, but this ain't the place for that. lol
This is basically how I feel. Read first 2 Volumes of Morrison's Action and didn't like it at all. Haven't read any of those other 3 yet
The Scarlet Witch one is based on the movies, but still relevant. I'm not convinced that they all look good in a row like that, due to different styles, but screw it, I like all 3 of 'em.
All caught up on Postal and loved it. The most recent issue is probably my favorite, that last arc was really good. Still have yet to find an image release I don't like.
I just found the second volume of Postal in a $5 bin and am pretty stoked to read it. The Eden's Fall crossover with Think Tank is such a cool idea and from the sound of it was done well. Anyone read the latest volume of Nailbiter? Any good?
Postal does an excellent job of layering each arc on top of each other so it all feels like it's building to something, so I think it just gets better as it goes along. Eden's Fall sounds great, I just need to read Think Tank and Tithe first, which sounds good to me. The latest Nailbiter trade is great. Lots of answers for long running questions.
WTF abc announces INHUMANS show??? Da fuq. Da fuq is going on over there? EDIT: and it's confirmed to be about The Royal Family. Looks like the movie is officially off the slate. And likely, also the dream of Vin Deisel as Black Bolt. Probably the greatest sacrifice of this transition.
Read Clean Room Vol 1. I definitely enjoyed it and couldn't put it down even if I don't really know what the hell was happening
Impulse bought Killing and Dying today. I just finished Amber Sweet ( the 2nd story), and I love this book already. The way he transitions panels and moves time forward - it just feels so seamless. I'm even thinking about re-reading it right away haha. To that guy who brought up web comics/comic strips in this thread, I highly recommend this (if you haven't read it yet).
Since the announcement of Fox planning to reboot the X-Men, I'm hopeful that Fox and Marvel have worked out a deal to reboot the X-Men for the Phase 4 slate taking over where the Inhumans were slotted. But that might be too crazy of a dream..
The struggles with the X-Men franchise lately certainly make that more believable, but I still highly doubt it. Plus, I want Marvel to fill out its film slots with more properties that normally wouldn't get a shot while Fox works out properties like New Mutants (preferably with better leadership). Still, an Avengers post-credits scene where a shadowy figure pops 3 claws from his hand would get me adamantium-hard, lol.
Good week for me. Picked up Jessica Jones, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Kill or Be Killed, Superman, and Green Lanterns. Also seriously considered the next issue of Infamous Iron Man and first issue of Thanos after flipping through them and seeing how totally awesome they looked, but I'll force myself to trade wait 'em 'cause money, lol. Such an embarrassment of riches out there these days. Shame on people who complain about the creative state of comics with all this good material out there.
Picked up JJ, All-Star Batman, the first three issues of Lady Killer, Reborn, and probably other things. lol. This book looks like a lot of fun. Helps that I love anything with an RTJ cover.
