yah before i got off IG they were really goin hard into the poor/peasant stuff, i definitely remember that. but yah i get what you mean about channeling it properly, they could go about it a different way or maybe they don't know how? I just love Tom's early material, he just went for it where a lot of comedians play it safe these days. It's a shame it seems they have lost their way.

 

Mantzoukas is great on Taskmaster

 

the first episode is free on YouTube. I had never watched the show before but thought it was a lot of fun. Might watch some earlier seasons while I wait for more of the Zouks season

 

I've only seen one other season (can't remember which one, 16 I think) but it was a good time.

 

Taskmaster is probably my favorite comedy "thing," including podcasts and tv and whatever. Literally every season is at minimum good (even the weird COVID seasons with no audience) and most are fantastic. A lot of people seem to suggest starting with season 7 (the James Acaster season) but honestly you can start wherever, it doesn't matter. My personal favorite is probably season 5 with Aisling Bea, Bob Mortimer, Nish Kumar, Mark Watson and Sally Phillips, just a monster lineup. First ep of the new season is great, Zouks is such a gem.

 

I’ve seen all of Taskmaster, including other countries seasons. It’s like 90% perfection.

 

Tom has always rubbed me the wrong way. Do not enjoy him.

 

I haven’t dove deep into Taskmaster yet, I fell off the panel shows/british comedy close to when I became aware of it. But that season 5 sounds incredible.

 

I’m a huge Taskmaster fan, the run they went on from series 11 - 16 was so good, especially 13, 14, and 16. They’re all onYouTube if you want a new show to get addicted to, and all the seasons have some solid moments.

I’m also a big fan of the NZ and Australia versions, NZ season 2 is one of the best of any version and have been great generally. Only a few Australia ones but they’re all great so far.

I’m not enough of a sicko to get into the Norwegian ones yet, but there’s definitely non-English ones that people love too.

 

Honestly loved Completely Normal and watched that special a bunch in college, but Segura has unfortunately not grown at all for the past decade and is generally insufferable now

 

Dan Soder dropped a bunch of tour dates for the rest of the year.

Going to check him out when he comes to Detroit.
