Also my parents know Gaffigan but have no idea who Kinane is. Gaffigan is playing where the Penguins play when he comes here and Kinane played about a 500 seat venue last time he came.

Then like Kevin Hart Chris Rock and Chappelle who haven't spoken to a real person in decades

Is Brendan Schaub funny?

I know nothing about him really, but my buddy is trying to convince me to go with him to see him on Friday and if I do, I'll miss Adam Cayton-Holland who I'm pretty sure I'd prefer to see.

 

ACH is great and will always be someone I recommend seeing. Schaub is an idiot imo but tbh I don't actually know his comedy and I only know him as an MMA personality lol

 

I totally agree about ACH. I really want to see him. Just curious if I'll be pissed I skipped ACH to see Schaub, or if he's decent enough in his own right.

I guess this is a good time to mention that I've only been getting into stand-up for the past month or so, so I'm largely ignorant about the scene

 

It was so nice to hear that Rudd is genuinely hilarious even just conversationally. I love him so much

I was crying laughing at the pornographic bit near the end

 

Also, John Mulaney is easily one of the most popular standups right now. Not Hart/Chappelle level but he's pretty damn big

 

Yeah, he’s fallen into a right wing “free speech is under attack” hate spiral, where he’s been associating and defending a bunch of generally awful people. It’s a bummer to see.

If you're new to standup and have never seen anything from Norm, I wouldn't completely ignore him.

 

Yeah it’s definitely not worth getting into norm at this point if you don’t like to be completely disappointed by people you formerly really enjoyed

 

What happened to his political and social outlook over time?

I don't pay attention to anyone's social media, and I couldn't be happier, ha.

And I will confirm, Norm's last special was pretty great. About halfway in it finally clicked with me and I was laughing pretty hard at some jokes. I don't remember which ones they were now, but yeah, it wasn't bad.

 

He's said some crappy things the last year for sure.
Me Doing Standup is still my favorite special ever and Norm's book is genius.
I just wish he wasn't so out of touch.

 

I really still do not get Carl's Philly fan hate. I mean I get it in the sense that we're obnoxious and he isn't from there, and maybe that's it, but what does he want out of a sports fandom? To not root for a team when it's losing? It might be a Philly thing but outside of a few dumbass Cowboys fans here and there no one really hopped from team to team in terms of support. Always was Sixers, even if you liked certain players on the other teams.
