So jealous! I just saw them last night in Orlando (they were incredible) but I so badly want to go to Candlenights someday.

I saw them live too, but Candlenights seems like it would be particularly special.

I've just started listening to stand-up specials while at work but it's mostly been the dead guys - Carlin, Hicks, Hedberg, etc. What are everyone's opinions on them?

He wrenches on it. He thinks it's his.

Seth Myers’ special is great. Sorta Mulaney-lite in delivery and writing.

3 of the best to ever do it. Some of Hick's stuff hasn't aged quite as well, probably, but I haven't listened to him in over a decade so idk...

watched this last night and felt strong Mulaney vibes throughout for sure, specifically the "they thought i was Jewish because of the everything about me" line. was a little too "MY WIFE" for me but it was a good hour

Been watching Bajillion Dollar Properties and up to the last season now. Saw an ep last night and PFT utters "that's a clumsy portmanteau " and I nearly lost it.

This is really good. It explains a whole hell of a lot and makes a ton of sense. Also feel like Mulaney is another example of that "Kyle Kinane-level fame" that this describes at the end as being the sweet spot. You could plug his name into that last section and it would like exactly describe Mulaney too.

Birbiglia and Gaffigan too , they're famous but humble

Yeah they’re also good examples, and I would say they’re probably even like one step bigger than Mulaney/Kinane too. Like not by much but still a bit.

    I was right. Prestigious

in my mind Mulaney is the biggest of that group. mostly because so many people I know can't name a single stand up comedian they like besides him.

all I know is Gaffigan and Birbiglia played 5000+ capacity theaters when they came here and I saw Kinane with like 100 other people and it wasn't even sold out.
