I've written stuff before but I've never had the guts to go to an open mic or anything

I went to an open mic once. Got out of my car walked halfway to the door and thought no fucking way do I want strangers to stare at me on a stage and walked back to my car and left

  4. theagentcoma

    yeah good okay Prestigious

I probably wouldn't have this thought until I got on the stage

Yeah I've thought of doing it but public speaking and stage fright no thanks plus what if they laugh at me not with me and I have to become the Joker

If you're thinking of doing an open mic, go to said open mic a few times first and watch.

Someone I did UCB with asked me if I wanted to fill in a spot for a show he was running and I had a bunch ideas scattered in my notes app so I said sure and I ended up burning through it in five minutes, which went really well, but then I had to figure out how to fill another five which was much weirder and went less well. Not my thing lol

Be a prop comic. Half the time you'll spend digging through your trunk for stuff.

Joke writing is probably difficult too but it seems like having the nerve to perform alone in front of a crowd, getting your timing/pacing down and delivering things audibly/clearly is much harder.

Then again, I guess part of the joke writing is making it clear, concise and followable.

I’m the opposite, I love performing I’m just not at all funny. My band had to adapt our live sets to have no musical breaks because if I started talking between songs I couldn’t stop.

I didn't even bother with it because it's on CBS, honestly. I'll basically never watch a comedy on there unless I start like actively hearing it's great

I don't trust the network that has Young Sheldon on it to ever make something funny

A Carl Tart hosted podcast about the OC would be a dream I never knew I had come true

I’ve never watched the OC but I will watch every episode if there’s a podcast involving Carl.
