can anyone point me in the direction of a summary of what this is all about

 

UCB doesn’t pay its performers and also is bleeding money and closing shit down and making things wayyyy more exclusive than they should be (not letting non UCB teams perform at DCM). People are confused where the money from classes/tickets etc. goes and why they would open up new theaters. Could be missing stuff

 

more specifically UCB promised to start paying coaches themselves as opposed to making the teams pay, then “delayed” the change, and now have said “we can’t afford the coaches so either you pay them or don’t have them at all”

Also the heads of UCB (particularly Ian Roberts and Besser) aren't handling the criticisms or discussion well at all, they're coming off pretty badly

 

Has anyone read Lose Well by Gethard? I'm just starting it and it's coming across as too self-helpy for me and I'm hoping it turns into more storytelling because I liked his last one.

Picking it up from the library today. haha

 

I skipped ahead a bit and it seems like a solid mix of storytelling and empowering mumbo jumbo. I'll skip those parts

 

I liked his first book. I haven’t read it in probably 7 years though.

 

Read his first book this past year and it’s excellent and very funny, was hesitant on the new one knowing it’s more geared towards self improvement but I’ll pick it up eventually just because he’s one of my favorite people

Almost done Gethard's book. Skipping through the self help chapters, there's a lot of stuff I really enjoy. He's a good writer.

I've only seen a handful of TCGS eps, I know there's a cult surrounding it. Maybe I'll dive in. Random Orlando gets a shoutout in the book, he was an AP poster, right?

Have you read his other book? It's just a bunch of stories from his live, no self help stuff. It's really great

Harris had a google alert for his name and posted once or twice to say it was cool we were talking about him. He had an Alkaline Trio username, if I remember correctly.

I wonder how many other comics have that alert set up and pop in every once in a while. I know the HH guys did a bit on an early ep about people on AP talking about their Pauly Shore episode

 

Damn, that's dope. Harris seemed like a really cool dude.
