I've been wondering how to get into that show as well. Still don't really have a clue what it's about or who the guys are. Also, not too sure if I can handle another must listen podcast right now.

just pick up with most recent then? any past eps or guests worth checking out?

  6. Hmm, you could probably pick up at the newest, that's what I did, starting with the one right after the election. Just off the top of my head I would check out the one with @PissPigGranddad, the one with Matt Taibi is good, the one right after the inauguration, the one where they read from Ben Shapiro's racist ass book which I think is from Christmas, and the one with Adam Curtis are all good. The ones with James Adomian of course. The latest one is like the "clip show" bit where the clips are skits and didn't actually happen, probably a decent start.

  9. Tbh I haven't gone back and listened to most of the earlier ones because I don't want to relive that time in politics

Man the homophobia in Chapelle's netflix special is worse than I was expecting

edit: just got to the jokes about trans people. it's too bad he decided to put in this bullshit because other than this stuff his special has been very funny so far

I watched for the first time a few years ago Eddie Murphy's Delirious special (which was from 1983) and tons of homophobia in that one. I understand he was fairly young/naive at a culturally different time, but it's tough to watch nowadays.

The latest ep of CBB was great. I was thinking about buying that Dirty Lemon drinks they advertised at the beginning. Turns out it's like $10+ a bottle. Who has that kind of money?

I just remembered that last night I had a dream that Scott Aukerman and I were in love

Yeah, it's barely watchable now. Some HH episode a while ago had some great jokes at its expense

Yeah, that sucked. Those were some jokes that I feel like would pander to the racist guy that laughed at his racist pixie sketch and caused him to leave the show. The Kevin Hart bit and the stuff about being high was way more in his wheelhouse.

A lil late but episode 73 where they talk about Dinesh D'Souza's "Hillary's America" documentary (along with Bill Corbett no less) had me crying. Basically any episode where they discuss a movie is gold, but I think most besides that one are Patreon-exclusive

I'm not really enjoying the live episodes from flappers. The vibe just isn't the same and Jimmy tries too hard to be on instead of just being his normal funny self.

Yeah that one bit of Delirious is very unfortunate but the rest of it is so strong that it's still probably one of my favorite specials

Honestly even if they weren't offensive, a lot of Chappelle's gay/trans jokes just seemed tired and dated as hell, or were at least coming from really dated perspectives on the issue. If I'm remembering correctly at one point doesn't he say something along the lines of "fucking a guy in the ass is *actually* the most manly thing you can do"?

Like come on Dave, you're better than that

Yeah, I don't like that they now take the place of a regular episode. As bonus episodes they're great and I've enjoyed them, but I'm always disappointed when I see it's live.

Definitely agree. I do enjoy his crowd work, but I prefer the studio episodes.
