I really hope these specials are great. It's been so long since his last ones, I almost can't believe this is actually real. Going to have to wait until after work to watch them.

Man, checked out Kurt Braunohler's latest last night, and it was the most I've laughed at a special in quite some time. Dude's delivery just kills me.

Same thing with Richard Pryor and George Carlin influencing all the comics we listen to today. Having a successful group like K&P say they were influenced by Chappelle is a huge compliment.

I'm wondering how much of the new Chappelle special will just be what he did on Oddball... Isn't one of the specials "new" and the other one an older unreleased hour?

They're both older unreleased specials. He has a deal to record a brand new one for Netflix in addition to these, at some point in the future.

The idea that every person who has been influenced by Dave Chappelle needs to pay him explicit tribute, or that he deserves credit for popularizing the concept of "entirely pre-recorded sketch comedy series," is totally unworkable at this point in time. Dave's influence is so widespread at this point that it would likely encompass every comedian currently working. He blazed a trail on cable television, specifically on Comedy Central, and K&P definitely owe him thanks for that, but the two series have entirely different humor styles that are distinctly their creators' (and nobody else's). I respect the hell out of Dave and am obviously a fan, I just don't see why he would say something like that.

How old? I thought one of them was recorded around the time he did Oddball (a couple of years ago)

He talks about the Chris Rock oscars being a few weeks ago in the first special. Again, very rough stretches to get through in it, I didn't finish yet.

I've always found Chappelle to be more entertaining than funny in his stand-ups. Like, I don't really find myself laughing out loud, but I do enjoy watching him.

Obviously, the Chappelle Show was fantastic though. To this day, the Clayton Bigsby skit is probably my favorite thing I've ever seen on television.

Looking forward to the Netflix specials, but honestly not expecting to be blown away or anything.

Yeah Chappelle has always had problematic jokes, R Kelly and Elizabeth Smart come to mind, where's ja is one of my favorites though and that's from the same special

The Texas one is from 2015 and the other one is from early 2016, I believe.

Lewis Black is going to be here this weekend but the decent seats that are left are $100. Tough call. Likely a no.
