I just started Norm's book, but it's been very enjoyable so far. I'll cosign the endorsement for Moshe's book, too

My Christmas present "day of comedy" is coming up in NYC this Saturday, and I can't wait. We're seeing Oh Hello in the afternoon then going to the Cellar later in the night.

One of the comedians is listed as "Derek Crisp from Comedy Central," with a picture of a dog. Google isn't giving me any comedians with that name, so I'm hoping it's someone cool dropping in

  3. Just look for comedians you know you love. I'm partial to David Cross' I Drink For a Reason

edit: and Henry Rollins' writing, although he's not exactly a comedian and his books/poetry certainly aren't either

It's a while since I read it, but Pryor Convictions by Richard Pryor is good. Born Standing Up too. I only started Kasher in the Rye recently but I like it so far.

I'm a few months behind on the boogie monster and am currently listening to the Election Day episode and Kyle's ranting about the constitution is dumb/misinformed.

Not exactly a comedian's book but if you're an SNL fan I can't recommend the book Live From New York enough. It's basically an oral history of the entire show all the way up to Seth Meyers leaving if you get the updated version, with interviews from cast, writers, hosts and producers. It's like 600 pages but I've read it multiple times

Also, The Chris Farley Show is similarly written and it's both great and depressing.

I have two other tangential recommendations, Bill Carter's two books on the late night drama: The Late Shift (Leno v. Letterman) and The War for Late Night (Leno v. Conan)

    Fuck Jay Leno

Conan is BY FAR my favorite late night host and always has been. I felt so tremendously bad for him following the entire Tonight Show fiasco and now this? To think, the guy went from having THE late night gig that probably all comedians dream of having to a traveling act-one hour show per week? Damn.

He's also been doing it for 25 years though, which is longer than anyone else in the business right now. That alone is quite an accomplishment and this could work out positively for him in terms of ratings and stuff.

That's interesting. I hope Conan was in favor of the switch. Give him more time to spend with his family/relax and still get to do a show

I still watch Conan's final speech on The Tonight Show quite often. I just think it's absolutely fantastic.

I'm only just finishing off the CBB Best of 2016 episodes. It never stops blowing my mind that Mulaney and Kroll are able to just go on and on with barely any pause when they're doing Oh, Hello.

Just started listening to Teacher's Lounge tonight. I giggled so hard for my entire commute, to the dismay of my public transportation bretheren. What a gem.

Reading through that Conan article and nothing is set in stone or even set at all yet. And it all seems to be on his terms. It sounds like TBS wants to do whatever Conan wants, whatever that may be.
