WTF with Marc Maron podcast to be adapted into a graphic novel

Does anyone still listen to Doug loves movies? Completely forgot it was a thing until today.

 

I used to listen to every episode but haven't even thought of him in like 5 years. Kinda weird how he completely dropped out of the cultural consciousness.

 

I was diehard DLM for years and have seen it twice live. I think I listened to 1 episode last year.

 

I do depending on guest. Listened to the one with Macon Blair a couple weeks ago. Still a good listen if the guests are good but usually it's people I've never heard of so I don't listen.

 

I feel like he had some weirdos on post-MeToo or maybe the quality just dropped, honestly can't remember what put me off

 

When he had to transition to at home zoom calls in the beginning of the pandemic, the vibe that I loved from the live podcast just died with those episodes.

 

That's the main reason. And then he kind of kept it going for too long as a stay at home model. The Macon Blair one was from a live show one and it was good but even that it seemed like the crowd has forgotten the jokes and everything else that used to be on the running gags part of it.

Guests don't really bring prizes now either so it's just a bag of stuff he brings. I always enjoyed when someone like Jon Hamm would show up with a pair of AirPods or something insane to throw in the prize bag.

 

Used to go to DLM all the time and won the prize bag a few times. Haven't listened in like 8 years.

The podcasts themselves kinda suck (Howie Mandel, Pod Save America, etc) but Maron on them was pretty amazing

 

yeah and the andrew santino/bobby lee one and the gabrus and pally one

don’t know anything about these people and haven’t come away liking any of the hosts with the exception of gabrus/pally but he’s been great on all of them

 

He was on Smartless as well. Wasn't anything great IMO

Pod Save America sucks and I wish Maron wasn't such a blue no matter who guy, but I also get it and him choosing to go on the offensive in his own playing field at this point in his career rocks. He's doing his part

 

Maron is making those dudes squirm and go on the defensive too. I have seen multiple clips of the dork edgy Rogansphere comics moaning about him. Jay Oakerson and the LoS guys compared him to Hannah Gadsby. Tony Hinchcliff said Maron was mentally ill, jealous, and just doing "Orange Man Bad". Kurt Metzger went on an unhinged transphobic rant when talking about what Maron said.
