I think it may be someone in here that said it originally, but once comics started doing standup to promote their podcasts instead of doing podcasts to promote their standup, the culture really shifted for the worse
I remember when he randomly followed me on Twitter like a decade ago and I followed back without seeing his stuff (just thought it was cool to get a verified follower) and he immediately DM'd me asking me to watch his new special and send him feedback lol Agreed that he sincerely seems more strange/dumb than outright evil. Marc Maron's impression of him in his latest special was hilarious.
WOOF. I am not one to make fun of a guy who has the potential to relapse and/or possibly do what he says in this video. That said - he's made some really dumb decisions and it seems like it's caught up to him.
Just watched the first two episodes of this. Really fun. I saw some criticism of the quite tight edit on them compared to most Dropout stuff, but I think it keeps it barrelling along quite nicely. I also don’t know who any of these people are, so it is introducing me to US comics kind of like Taskmaster does for US viewers. Really like Gianmarco so far. So hyped for Make Some Noise to return though. The episode with Lou, Brennan, and Jacob was hilarious.
My Thoughts on the Riyadh Comedy Festival David Cross' thoughts on it. Calls out Chappelle, CK, Bill Burr and Jefferies. From wiki as I just saw this: Jim Jefferies defended his involvement, arguing that Saudi Arabia's human rights record was comparable to that of the United States.[15]
It’s such an unforced error. Burr is already filthy rich. Same goes for a lot of these guys. But they just can’t say no to money.
Why would anyone watch that lmao Everyone come watch my YouTube video where I defend my indefensible actions and I’ll call you an asshole for giving a shit.
I heard my mom continuously laughing from whatever she was watching on TV. Popped in and saw she was watching kid gorgeous, classic! Does your mom watch stand-up comedy?
i remember liking cross' standup albums during the bush era a lot. i know he's an established actor now but i'd be interested in seeing what stand up from him in this era would look like.
I saw him maybe 7-8 years ago? It was good but kinda felt like he was just coasting by. Clips of his podcast are good.
I love David cross. Seen him pretty much every tour. And seen or listened to all the specials. I think the one that came out right after Covid was is best in a long time and his latest hour is really great too. He did have a few that I felt weren’t as strong as shut up you fucking baby but the last couple I’ve like a lot.
we are from Illinois so we've been watching Mulaney for a long time now, it was great to see her rewatching all his netflix stuff. shes like im watching him go from his 20s to his 30s hahaha
Cross was one of my first favorites and I'll always have a soft-spot for him. He's definitely got some weird Gen X energy where sometimes he will go too far (ironic slurs) and not far enough in other areas (toothless Trump stuff), but as a whole, his heart is in the right place and he's very funny.
