Joy Ride is catnip for stand-up comedy nerds

 

Joy Ride was pretty good.

 

I enjoyed it a month ago or whenever it came out. Flew by.

 

Conan’s Yoda voice had me laughing hysterically

 

The holiday special of CBB was the best episode of the year. Brought back all of the greats.

 

Catching up with some specials this year.

Jo Firestone’s “Good Timing” (Peacock)is wonderful. Not really about her, but more about her teaching senior citizens how to do standup. Doesn’t make fun of them or anything and they all have unique personalities. Very funny and pure.

Roy Wood Jr.‘s “Imperfect Messenger” (Comedy Central) is everything I wanted from any of Chappelle’s new special, but didn’t get. He’s so funny and smart. One of the best out there. It sucks ass that this is stuck on Comedy Central’s terrible streaming services.

 

I've recently rewatched both Walk Hard and Popstar and I just want to shout out again how fucking hilarious Tim Meadows is

 

“Does anybody have any ideas?”
“One, but you are going to like it”

His delivery of that line in Popstar is so good that I kept the dialogue track from the soundtrack in my music library

 

Hell yeah, Auckerman on Never Not Funny

 

i haven’t listened in about a month but I’m definitely listening to this one.

 

The way he says "get outta here" at 0:20 is what inspired me to make that post lol

 

Anyone watch the new Reno 911 movie yet?

 

I'm watching it now. The first scene had me worried but it immediately gets better. Great cast, Patton in particular

I think we traded words of disagreement about The Closer but still wanted to acknowledge that your comment above about Roy Wood Jr.'s special is spot on. Just watched it. Great stuff without any cheap shots. Painful to watch on Fubo though with all the forced ad breaks.

 

Haha. I don’t remember that, but I’m sure I was being an ass, so I apologize.

Regardless, that rules. Roy Wood Jr. doesn’t get as much love as some other comics, but he’s always reliably great. His takes on allies and making a whole bit about the guy on Death Row - fantastic. It’s too bad it’s a Comedy Central production and not on Hulu or Netflix.

 

I must have missed that Kyle became a father. Happy for him!

 

He didn’t, I think he just wants to hear the opposite of “kids born today will have horrible lives in the upcoming environmental catastrophes”

 

Ah, gotcha. Well, in that case, a positive post nonetheless
