i really enjoyed the first few carl calls his cousins and now i’m more or less hate listening and would prefer to eternal sunshine it from my mind

Look I know it’s none of my business but I would kill to be a fly on John Mulaney’s shoulder for the last six months.

 

I still enjoy Carl Calls His Cousin when it’s just them reminiscing. But it’s kind of clear it’s a chore for Carl to do while he’s out there in these streets. But it’s also like the easiest paycheck in the world, so why would he stop?

 

Carl is occasionally insufferable but frequently hilarious. So it evens out.

 

Just popping in to say that if you don't think Inside is great you probably have bad taste in comedy, and if your a stand-up/comidian/podcaster that is complaining about it you are jealous and are most likely bad at it.

This is the expected kind of backlash when something gets too much praise. I liked the special a lot, have had the songs stuck in my head for a while. I've also described it as performative depression and have seen a lot of valid criticism. This is the most talked about special I've seen in a long time and you're going to get a whole range of opinions on it.

 

Yeah whenever something comes out that a lot of people like, there's always going to be the group of cool kids on the internet that need to hate on it. If you liked the special, like I did, just don't pay those people any mind. Their blustering can't and won't make the special any less good.

 

I loved the special, but people are also allowed to not like it. Saying that anybody who wasn’t a fan has bad taste isn’t going to help anything.

i think the posts in here claiming that if you don't like a very successful comedy special then actually you're just jealous and too stupid to understand it are bad

 

Everyone’s pissing match reactions to the Bo special everywhere has made me not even want to watch it haha.

I’ll wait until everyone stops talking about it for a few months, watch it with a clear head, and then I’ll pop in here with my thoughts and light the fire again

The one funny criticism was Scharpling saying " he does know he can wear a mask and go outside right "

 

Yeah the only real criticism I had was that I couldn’t really relate to it, since I’ve been working this whole time. Which isn’t even really a criticism, I guess.

 

i couldnt fully connect with Inside because I was back working in my office by October

 

I related it a lot to the early lockdown for sure. I might be living normally now, but for me it really captured a moment of that first couple of months when everyone still followed the rules.

 

i just really don't care to see "the lockdown" portrayed in any sort of media going forward lol. Bo gets a pass because there haven't been too many examples yet but I know they're coming

 

I think the best lockdown piece of entertainment was the “Mythic Quest” COVID episode and this is a tight second. I really don’t want/need anything beyond that.

 

Hate to tell you but this is so far the most significant event of our lifetimes, there will be so many lockdown movies/tv shows/etc you won’t even be able to count. From now into perpetuity
