ive only heard them talk about it on the pod which creates a strong inherent bias - but Ringer offered to buy AFE, who rejected, and then Ringer absorbed or debuted another podcast with a very similar format in short succession. i think it's dumb for the record - he said no and Ringer said yes to someone else, they clearly had a specific type of content they wanted to fill as opposed to seeing AFE itself as the cash crop. can't reject someone and get shitty when they date someone else.

but i get feeling weird about it - just maybe not on Twitter out loud in a public position from a very privileged, successful, and gainful career lol

Just looked into it and The Ringer didn’t even create/acquire another fantasy pod tho, they just did drafts on Russillo and JJ Redick’s respective pods. He also called them out for Shea Serrano doing a fantasy gangster draft video to promote his book and called them “slime” lol. Just seems very silly

 

ahhh yeah thats dumb. it's a reasonable thorn in the side from a personal prospective but a bad look professionally

 

Ian is a huge piece of shit. Used to be a fan but he loves to be a dumbass on twitter.

He deletes a lot of his shitty takes so it's hard to find specifics. "huge" may have been exaggerating in terms of people being shitty on twitter lol but it seems like he getting called out for one thing or another.

 

i also shiver at the thought of defending a person just because i laugh at their most composed version of themselves for a couple hours a week, hope none of yall think im taking the "prove it or you're wrong" stance but this thread and the rare gram callout is all i got lol

 

I like AFE, but listening every week for years now, it kinda gets stale. (On the pod) they seems like genuinely good guys (Sean especially) and they obviously have a good friendship and it shines through when listening, but they rely too much on recycled bits in my opinion.

I don't really use social media much, so I can't speak to that.
