I've been trying to get into roast battles, but I'm finding it too be way too try hard. It's really rare I get much of a laugh. It's weird because there are a lot of comics I generally love, but this format just stinks.

 

Paula Poundstone is a delight on Never Not Funny. Fits in perfectly with those guys

 

I enjoy them sometimes but I feel like the concept is inherently flawed, it basically either requires you to be knowledgable about both comics and their lives or otherwise it's just jokes about their appearances

 

Gabrus, Betty and Will Hines. This episode should be great.

I'm no expert on comedy scenes, but I feel like older comedians and club owners based in NYC is still running on a boys club mentality and tend to be more non-PC than younger comics everywhere else. I can only imagine the owner is a long-time friend of Louis and believes he deserves a second chance and "everyone needs to move on"

 

yeah I don't think I'm ever going to the Comedy Cellar again, there are so many other comedians that don't want a platform so they could complain about how ruining the lives of women ruined their lives

 

If you want to hear the owner squirm and try and equate this whole situation to Bill Clinton, I highly suggest listening to The Daily Podcast from two weeks ago.

they either need to stop booking this guy and/or let patron bring in bags of ripe tomatoes to throw at his act for cartoonish humiliation

 

I personally would prefer throwing large uncooked potatoes at Louis but to each their own I guess

I’m running a couple weeks behind on podcasts but I just had to pop in and say Jameela was a perfect HH guest - hilarious, riffed well with the boys, completely got the show and played up a character perfectly. Top tier ep of the show.

 

I'm going to have "Let The Beast Out" from the halloween episode of Off Book stuck in my head for a while

 

i think she might be the guest that played along best among the guests who don't either have their own podcasts or have a pre established rapport with the boys or whatever like that. best guest who was just doing it to promote something

 

Bummer but also impressed that this was a real show
