Anyone else's podcast app just decide to re-download the entire How Did This Get Made catalog?

 

Ah, I just assumed Stitcher fucked up again. Still kind of annoying to get hit with 25 downloads out of nowhere

 

LOL got me into that podcast but I haven;t been keeping up. What a wild story.

 

I'm curious, why do you download podcasts instead of just streaming them?

 

personally i often listen while commuting or otherwise not connected to wifi and thats a huge waste of data

 

It's just what I've always done, I never even considered people just stream them haha. I have pretty shitty (but cheap) cell service so it makes sense to not blow my data on streaming. and I like to subscribe, so they automatically download and I have the new episodes when I wake up in the morning.

[edit] and as @Wharf Rat said, I probably spend 50% of my podcast time off wifi. just make sense to download

 

Okay, those reasons make sense. I used to download episodes back when I used an iPod Classic but have streamed for years and years now and I've never reached my data cap.

The best part of downloading episodes is keeping them after shows archive old episodes. I miss that.

 

Subscribing and downloading to my phone is my own queue of what I plan on listening to. The only time I stream is listening to new podcasts for the first time to see if I like it or not.

I have unlimited data and never download anything unless I'm gonna be travelling somewhere with bad service
