Forgot the racism. Probably halfway through the first special. It's like 75% jokes about transsexual people. Mostly problematic, pretty funny, I feel bad for enjoying it to the extent I am.

At the end of the day l think it’s clear that Dave isn’t actually transphobic, his brand of comedy can be brash and abrasive and offensive and he may not fully understand certain groups but typically he brings his bits around to a place of commiseration drawing from the black experience.
The jokes aren’t made out of malice you know?

 

May not come from a place of malice, but jokes about Caitlyn Jenners "manpussy", that he's not gay just because he fucked a transgender person, that the woman who said that Louis C.K. ruined her dream of being a comedian must not have had a strong dream, etc... are inherently problematic and can be hurtful things to others/used with malice by much worse people.

Edit: I'm not gonna keep going on about this though. They're funny specials, I laughed considerably. But there's also some real bad stuff here that should be discussed, preferably with the people having the problematic shit thrown in their direction having the loudest voices at the table

watched the first 10 or so minutes of the 4th Chapelle Netflix special and was shocked at how much I enjoyed it, bummer to hear it goes into problematic area but I'm not surprised.

 

reddit has good things to say, if that means literally anything lol

I actually really the Earwolf subreddit. (well... most of it)

 

definitely a gem in reddit's cesspool, i love that it's basically become the unofficial "alt comedy" sub rather than just Earwolf stuff

The Earwolf subreddit is one of the few good subreddits

 

That ep is everything great about Off Book. One of my favorites.

Loved PFT talking about something he saw on reddit on the Best Ofs and Scott giving him shit for it. "Why are you there?"

 

i swear to god comedy podcasts are 80% of the reason i no longer require depression/anxiety meds to exist

 

Sean is an actual fan of crunchy jam bands you guys. There's no way he'd know Jiggle The Handle, a short lived supergroup except the members weren't famous enough for it to be a supergroup
