You gotta go back and listen to the DYKWJSI parent podcast, The Bone Zone. If you like Brendon at all you’ll love it. He and Randy are so much fun together and it’s fun to watch how the Jason Segal podcast was born. Honestly, it’s a major bummer that Randy isn’t involved in DYKWJSI.

  7. Is it acceptable to listen to the Shrimp Off without being familiar with Doughboys?

Maybe at least play the Sean and Hayes rocklobsterfest ep first, where the idea came from. Also a lot of callbacks. Not sure it might just be annoying out of context report back.

I'll check it out. Any particular episodes?

  11. Tried Doughboys once and wasn't into it, but I love the hosts so I'll give it another go

edit: Do I have to start at the beginning, or can somebody point me towards some of the more essential/accessible episodes

It's quite a shit show so if you're not familiar with The Doughboys it might be a bit rough. Don't let that hinder you from going back and listening to the other episodes because it's truly one of the best podcasts out there right now.

Just listen to Doughboys from the beginning and we'll see you back here in about 6 months

The Paul Rust/Wendy’s ep is usually the go-to rec for new listeners. I think the first two Hayes/Sean episodes are good introductions too. And the Lapkus/Pinkberry episode.

Paul rust Wendy's - into the tournament of chompions. Maybe skip around before or after based on guest or restaurant choices. Also they just had PFT do KFC which is great out of context and a perfect ep.

Episode 77 with Shane Mause is a really good one to start on. That prank call is amazing. Johnny Pemberton is a great guest too but some of his later episodes get a little off the rails. His episode #85 has one of my favorite podcast moments ever. They do a lot of reoccurring bits, especially with specific guests, so if you're looking for guests you know try to find their first appearance before jumping into their later appearances. Mark Proksch's episodes are a good example of that, as well as Richard Bain's. At the beginning I'd avoid episodes with big name people like Lenny Kravitz or Jack Black because they tend to just interview them and don't really get into their groove. Once you get familiar with it just start at the beginning. The earliest episode on itunes is 50 because of some drama between them and Brian Redban. Episodes 1-50 are scattered around between deathsquad's website, youtube, and vimeo.

They can get super raunchy, pretty low brow, and borderline problematic at times. Some episodes are just flat out unlistenable by design (their 200th episode is just episodes 1-199 played over top of each other) but there is so much gold that it's worth listening.

Couldn't be any more problematic than Cum Town. I'll download a handful of episodes. Thanks.

Do you listen to Cum Town? JW cause the way it's described I don't understand the appeal at all

Oh definitely not that kind of problematic haha I think a better way to describe some of it would be extremely immature, dated, and willfully ignorant.

  21. You're a casual if you're not listening to 10 Doughboys episodes a day while catching up. It should only take like 3 weeks

Rust/Wendy's was my very first episode since I started when the first season of Love came on. When Mitch played the drop, I was like what the fuck am I getting into here?

Imo listening to the first ep and watching it completely devolve into what it has become is worth it
