I finished the Born A Crime audiobook today and I can highly recommend it. It's very insightful (I learned new stuff about Apartheid) and funny and occasionally gut wrenching. I especially recommend the audiobook version because Trevor does some great voice work.

Louis' entire act is about how big of a piece of shit he is... how is it so hard to believe he's actually an even bigger piece of shit than he is willing to admit?

It's crazy to me that people try to defend him by saying Kirkman retracted her statement. Which is more believable? A woman lied about an assault for attention and then retracted her statement because she felt bad about lying or a woman spoke out about her assault and retracted her statement out of fear or negative backlash?

Especially since when she said it in the first place, she was attempting to anonymize it, but everyone figures it out immediately.

 

Hollywood isn't the only industry this pattern is prevalent in, but given all the outrage about Weinstein and now to a lesser degree Ben Affleck, it's super super depressing to see people just letting it happen, and have been letting it happen for years. I know everybody has different lines and criteria for consuming the entertainment they enjoy from problematic figures and I'm not putting anyone on blast, but these Louis stories and rumors have been high profile enough for years and people who have jumped on other public figures for less have been ignoring, tolerating, or outright defending Louis that whole time while now lambasting Weinstein and it's been exasperating to see.

 

for what it's worth this is merely a rumor and more I don't want to hurt them not him but allegedly Garfunkel and Oates were the women in the Louie story

 

from what I remember reading he hasn't done anything illegal, he's just a shitty guy to date.

please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't keep up with much of this stuff.
